Claire Pentecost | Visiting Artist Talk
Wed. Feb 19, 5pm
List Art Building, room 120

Free tickets now available. Claire Pentecost investigates the boundary between nature and artificiality, with a focus on food, agriculture, bio-engineering and anthropogenic climate change. Her art-as-research practice advocates for the role of the amateur in the production and interpretation of knowledge. She has widely exhibited her writings, drawings and sculptural installations in the US and internationally. Pentecost currently serves as professor and chair of photography at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Register for free tickets here.

Sandra Mayo is an Argentinian artist and educator who lives in Lexington, Massachusetts. Enabled by her training in education (Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Boston University) while utilizing printmaking and mixed-media work as her main language, her art aims to provoke profound feelings and intellectual bonds between the viewers and historical and current sociopolitical events. Her work has been shown throughout New England. It has also appeared in various publications and been acquired by private and corporate collections in Argentina, France, Germany, Israel, and the US.


CURRENTS New Media 2020 Interns

Now seeking interns for CURRENTS New Media 2020.  Interns will spend June in beautiful Santa Fe, New Mexico as a vital part of an international art & technology festival. CURRENTS is a community made up of a dedicated staff, treasured interns, the fantastic local artists, an install crew, a network of volunteers, partner venues that host events during the festival, and all the artists who fly out from all over the world to participate in this festival every year. Summer Undergraduate Residency Program

Swearer Center Engaged Scholarship Day | Call for Proposals

Engaged Scholarship Day is a day-long series of events that highlight the intellectual pursuits of Brown University students in collaboration with faculty, community partners, and staff, grounded in deep community engagement towards a public purpose. ES Day aims to celebrate the myriad forms that community engagement takes at Brown University, including direct service, community-based research and learning, social innovation, community organizing, advocacy, and others.
