Spring 2020 Lab Monitor Applications

The Department of Visual Art is looking for applications from qualified students to work in the labs/studios for the Spring 2020 semester. Areas include Book Arts, Darkroom, Digital Print Lab, Foundation Studio, Painting, and Printmaking. Apply 

Juried Student Exhibition |Now Open
Mon. Nov 11 - Sun. Jan 26

Submissions for the 40th Annual Juried Student Exhibition open Monday, November 11 and close on Sunday, January 26. All media encouraged, and all currently enrolled Brown University students eligible. The exhibition will be on view in the Granoff Center for Creative Arts from February 26 until March 20. Submit work online 

Flexible Flyer Fellowship Award
Deadline: Mon. Feb 10, 5pm
Individual awards are available for a junior or senior Visual Art Concentrator. Eligible projects may be done as completely independent projects outside of Brown, as independent study projects, or as work within the regular department curriculum. A student may not use the award while on leave from Brown, but it may be used in part for a summer project undertaken between junior and senior years, or for the completion of a project begun at Brown and finished during the summer following graduation.

Hugh Townley Travel Fellowship Award
Deadline: Mon. Feb 10, 5pm
Funds are available to a junior Visual Art Concentrators. Proposal for travel should support your development as an artist.

Marlene Malik Fellowship Award
Deadline: Mon. Feb 10, 5pm
Individual awards are available to a Visual Art Concentrator to support the purchase of supplies or materials for 3D projects.

Join the ICERM community of colleagues and friends to build a human-scale model of Weaire and Phelan's surprising discovery. We hope you'll gain insight and appreciation for the surprising depth and beauty of everyday phenomena, that in this case led to a riddle that may stump and inspire problem-solvers for another 107 years.
Please drop in anytime between 10 AM-5 PM to lend a hand and visit/chat with the participants of the Illustrating Mathematics program

The VA Equipment Lending Library will close for the semester on Friday, December 13 at 3pm. All equipment you may have on loan from the department is due back no later than this date and time. No items may be held over Winter Break. 


Call for Artists, Designers and Cartographers
Year of the City: The Providence Project is an unprecedented year-long exploration of the history, life and culture of Providence’s twenty-five neighborhoods through exhibitions, performances, walks, lectures, and conferences produced by more than 50 different curators throughout 2019. 
Year of the City is now accepting proposals for an artist, designer or cartographer to create an illustrated, fold-out map documenting the projects created during the year.  The submission deadline for proposals is Monday December 16, 2019 by 11:59 pm. For more information, go to
