Upcoming Senior Concentrator Event | May 21st, 6:00 PM
The department will be hosting an event for senior concentrators on May 21st at 6:00 PM. Please save the date. Additional information will be available soon.


Enrolled VISA Students | Artwork Recovery Effort
The VA department is working on helping students recover any belongings and artwork left behind in the List Art Building. Please fill out this form to help with this process. The deadline for submissions is Friday, May 15th, 2020.

DIAP Committee Membership Application | Apply Now
Deadline: Friday, May 15th
This year our department will be continuing the work of DIAP (Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan). We are looking for students who are interested in working with Kristine Dodd, Theresa Ganz, Winnie Gier, Paul Myoda, and RaMell Ross on DIAP initiatives for 2020-2021. Our focus this coming year will be on furthering DIAP goals, particularly in the areas of faculty hiring and establishing a DIAP student grant. Student feedback is essential to the process. DIAP Student Committee Membership is a one-year commitment. The committee meets once per month, lunch provided.

The Department of Visual Art is looking for applications from qualified students to work in the labs/studios for the Fall 2020 semester. Areas include Book Arts, Darkroom, Digital Print Lab, Foundation Studio, Painting, and Printmaking. Please apply via Workday.

MCM Movies | Weekly Virtual Screening
Thursdays through May 21st

MCM Movies is a weekly virtual screening. Each film was chosen with ideas of fantasy and escapism in mind. Every week, films are introduced by a member of the MCM community and attendees are encouraged to discuss what they're watching via Zoom chat. Stay tuned to Today@Brown or @brown.mcm for more details.

Writing an Artist Statement with Celine Katzman '15
May 13th. 12:00 PM

Join Celine Katzman for a two-hour workshop focused on creating your artist statement. The workshop will combine instruction and open discussion for a highly-interactive experience. Celine Katzman is a Singaporean-American writer, curator, and educator based in New York. Her work is focused on artists and creative practitioners who critically engage with new technologies, emphasizing social, political, and ecological responsibility. Currently, she is a NYSCA Curatorial Fellow at the Queens Museum and an instructor at the School for Poetic Computation. Space in the workshop is limited. Register here.

Cargo Collective Student Program Code | One Year Free
Cargo Collective is offering Brown University a Student Program code. To activate, enter the Promo Code 2df8010a when upgrading your Cargo site. This provides a full one-year upgrade with no restrictions for the user. A new code will be provided every year, so that enrolled students can keep their sites upgraded.

Partner with Brown Arts Initiative 
Students, faculty, and departments can now apply to partner with BAI to receive support for art-based projects, programs, and research that would otherwise not be possible. Additional information can be found on their website

Brown University Library COVID-19 Community Archive Project
In recognition of the importance of capturing the broad range of experiences of all members of the Brown community during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Brown University Library invites student groups and individuals to contribute to its COVID-19 Community Archive Project. We welcome all formats - a photograph, blog post, audio, film clip, zine, meme, or poem. However you choose to document what you are experiencing. Please share your personal experiences and be part of the Brown community’s collective memory of the COVID-19 pandemic. Contact archives@brown.edu with any questions.


BrownConnect Collaborative SPRINT Awards
The College in partnership with CareerLAB, the Sheridan Center for Teaching & Learning, and the Swearer Center for Public Service will offer new opportunities for students to receive funding for remote short-term internships, course development projects, and community engagement experiences. This summer, the award will continue to support those opportunities that can be carried out remotely and also create new, flexible, shorter-term options to support a greater number of students. Rising Sophomores: Be a MAPS Mentee!
Are you a rising sophomore? The Matched Advising Program for Sophomores (MAPS) is now accepting applications. MAPS is a year-long, one-on-one peer mentoring program geared towards sophomores, with content related to making decisions they want or need to make in their sophomore year. Apply here.


Paid Photoshop Editing Work
The Social Cognitive Science Lab is looking for a student to help with a Photoshop project. They have a series of images that they would like objects added and removed from. The goal is to make the images graphically compelling. Compensation is available. If interested, please reach out to Vivienne Chi.
