Dear Friends,

Peace of Christ. Just a quick note to say that you and your loved ones remain in our thoughts and prayers this Thanksgiving! We will be offering Mass for the holiday at both 7 pm this evening at Saints Peter and Paul Parish or tomorrow (Thanksgiving Day) at 9 am at Three Holy Women – St. Hedwig. Should you wish to attend, we would love to have you join us; kindly register using the Mass Registration and Guidelines link at the bottom of this newsletter.

We again extend our Thanksgiving greetings with a special message from Fr. Tim and members of our parish staff. Please click here to view this short video. It includes this prayer, which we share if you would like to use as you gather in this most unusual of years:

Prayer for the Thanksgiving Holiday 2020

Loving and merciful God, we place ourselves in your presence as we gather to celebrate this Thanksgiving holiday.

In this most unusual of years in which we celebrate without the presence of many family, friends, and loved ones, we place our faith in the promise that you are with us always in the depths of our hearts and that we are connected in a mysterious, yet real way as the mystical Body of Christ.

Help us to acknowledge the suffering and the Crosses that have filled all of our lives in this past year. We hand over to you the pain that we or loved ones have experienced of death, illness, loneliness, fear, anger, despair, and doubt.

At the same time, help us to give thanks for the blessings we have received often in the smallest and most hidden of ways. We lift up to you our tired and hurting hearts, but hearts that are still grateful for the blessing of life, health, faith, family, friends, and the strength to persevere yet another day.

Watch over our health care workers, first responders, and those working on a cure or a vaccine for the coronavirus. Purify our land from every sin of abuse, racism, and injustice.
Grant wisdom and prudence to all of our civic and church leaders.
Bestow upon all of us the graces of peace, healing, forgiveness, and trust always in your providence.

Through the powerful intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, all the angels and saints, we make this prayer through Jesus’ name. Amen.

Video Mass for Sunday, November 29th. Here is the recorded Mass for this upcoming Sunday (First Sunday of Advent). We provide a worship aid to help you better enter into the prayer of the Mass. Please know that we will continue these recorded Masses indefinitely. We are so grateful to DV Productions, our Liturgists Mary Robertson and Brian Eggers, and our cantor Amy Sobczak for their efforts in making our prayer as beautiful as possible.

In Person Mass. Our Mass schedule can be found on the Reopening and Mass Times pages of the parish website. Please be sure to register online to attend an in person Mass. Registration can be found on the Reopening page of the parish website. The link is included every week at the bottom of this newsletter.

At-Home Advent Retreat. Advent is a time to prepare our hearts for our Lord, Emmanuel, which means “God-with-us.” During this pandemic and safer at home, people have been finding creative ways of using their time. The At-Home Advent Retreat was developed to offer you time to dwell in the great love that came down at Christmas. Click here to view and print the At-Home Advent Retreat Booklet. If you know someone who does not have internet access and would like a copy of this booklet, please contact Terri Balash, Director of Pastoral Care, at balasht@archmil.org and one will be mailed to them. Have a blessed Advent.

Advent Giving Tree. Blessings on the beginning of your Advent journey! Each parish will be hosting an Advent Giving Tree once again this year. The communities of Old St. Mary, Our Lady of Divine Providence, and Three Holy Women will once again be supporting the ministries of The Guest House of Milwaukee, La Causa Crisis Nursery, and St. Vincent de Paul. Instead of taking a tag off of the tree at Mass, please see the attached flyer for each agency's "wish list." Attach a tag with the agency name, then simply return your unwrapped gift to any Mass between now and December 12/13 OR drop off your unwrapped gift at the Three Holy Women Parish Office (1716 N Humboldt Ave) during our current business hours (M, T, Th 8-3).

Members of Sts. Peter and Paul are encouraged to ship their gifts for the Advent Giving Tree directly to St. Ben’s Meal Program and The House of Peace. You can find detailed information in the flyer attached here.

Also, although the Old St. Mary/Cathedral Conference of St. Vincent de Paul has opted not to be a part of this year's Advent Giving Tree, please know that they welcome contributions to their Christmas Food Voucher mailing to their neighbors in need. You can send contributions to the Christmas Food Voucher mailing by mailing your check to St. Vincent de Paul with "Christmas Food Voucher" in the memo line to 831 N Van Buren Street, Milwaukee, WI 53202.

Thank you for your generous gifting for our neighbors!

Riverwest Food Pantry. “A huge THANK YOU to all of you in our Community of Generosity that made this year’s Thanksgiving Giveaway the most successful one yet! With your help, we were able to give 459 families what they need for an entire Thanksgiving meal! We are amazed at the heart and care shown by everyone at the Family of Four Parishes and are so grateful for your continued support and involvement. From your family here at the Riverwest Food Pantry, we wish you a blessed Thanksgiving!”

Update on Mass Intentions. As many of you are aware, in these months of COVID, online Masses and the subsequent reduced number of in-person Masses, our Mass intention schedule was thrown into disarray. While we obviously want to honor all Mass intention requests, attempting to make up these intentions has proven quite challenging, as you might imagine. Our pastor has decided, therefore, to honor all of your requests that have not yet been offered (through the end of November, plus weekday Masses in December) by forwarding them to be offered by retired priests of the Archdiocese. Weekend intentions for December will be prayed for here in our parish, and we will resume accepting requests for Mass intentions for 2021 with our current Mass schedule. Due to the limited number of Masses, we are only able to receive one intention per family at this time. Thank you for understanding, and please know that your friends and family will be lovingly prayed for by our retired priests.

Parish Financial Support. We continue to be humbled by your financial support of the parish during these tender and tenuous times. Thank you so much, it has been amazing to witness the generosity of so many! Please mail in your envelopes and contributions to our parish office (Three Holy Women Parish, 1716 N Humboldt Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53202), and our parish staff will process these.

Please do not hesitate to contact me (Cell: 414-305-3824; baumgardnerj@archmil.org) or Fr. Tim (Cell: 414-762-7986; kitzket@archmil.org) if you need anything! Be assured of our love and prayers.

Sincerely, with love,
Fr. John
