Be At Peace
(by St. Francis de Sales)
Do not look forward in fear to the changes in life;
rather, look to them with full hope that as they arise, God,
whose very own you are,
will lead you safely through all things;
and when you cannot stand it,
God will carry you in his arms.
Do not fear what may happen tomorrow;
the same understanding Father
who cares for you today
will take care of you then and every day.
He will either shield you from suffering
or will give you unfailing strength to bear it.
Be at peace, and put aside all
anxious thoughts and imaginations.
By now you have heard of my decision to wait for re-opening our five churches. It was the hardest decision I have made in 31 years of priesthood. But I prayed this prayer from St. Francis De Sales every day, and I have peace in my heart as we move forward to the day when we can safely and reverently be back together. I ask you to fervently attend Mass either with us through the link below, or with the many places offering Mass through the Internet or on television.
My prayer in these days between the ASCENSION and PENTECOST will be for a time of peace and unity, and though our Holy Communion be spiritual at this time, may we hunger more than ever for the time when we can receive together, and try to be that Holy Communion for each other until then, as we live in patience and charity and kindness and joy.
Let us pray for all who are suffering in any way, and all who serve others in their needs! Let us pray for an increase of faith in the Holy Spirit to unite us when it is so easy to stay divided! Let us pray for peace and an end to violence and a deeper respect for all!
Let us pray in our eagerness for Holy Communion for those many areas in the world who might not have Holy Communion but once a year! Let us pray for an increase in priestly vocations and vocations to the permanent diaconate, consecrated religious life, and lay ministries that, like our own great staff, bring Christ to so many!
Let us pray, pray, pray!
Video Mass for Sunday, May 24. Here is the recorded Mass celebrated by Fr. Tim and Fr. John for this upcoming Sunday (the Ascension of the Lord). We provide a worship aid to help you better enter into the prayer of the Mass. We continue to be thankful for the work of our liturgists Mary Robertson and Brian Eggers, our cantor Amy Sobczak and our parish staff. Thanks also to David Vartanian and his son Blase of DV Productions for their tireless efforts in helping to make these filmed Masses possible.
Parish Financial Support. We are so grateful for your financial support of the parishes during these tender and tenuous times. Thank you so much—it has been amazing to see the generosity of so many people! Please continue to mail in your envelopes and contributions to our parish office (Three Holy Women Parish, 1716 N Humboldt Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53202) and our parish staff will process these.
