Dear Friends,
Peace of Christ. No doubt the rapidly changing impacts of COVID-19 are affecting your lives, so please be assured of our daily thoughts and prayers. We would like to give you a brief update about our parish’s continued response to COVID-19.
Weekly Video Message from Fr. Tim and Fr. John. In light of the Archdiocese’s decision to suspend all public Masses until April 3rd, we have decided to produce a weekly video message from the both of us. That’s right folks, even with the coronavirus, you can’t escape our preaching!! Just kidding. But seriously, we will reflect on the Sunday readings, mix in some humor, and try to bring some peace in the midst of these difficult times. We look forward to staying connected with you in this way. The weekly message can be found on our parish YouTube channel.
Old Saint Mary open, from 8 AM – 4 PM on Sundays for private prayer. We are pleased to let you know that we are able to have Old St. Mary open for personal prayer on Sundays at this time, something the Archbishop has requested of parishes.
How can I help? Pray, Fast, Give. So many people have reached out, asking about how they can be of help. Praise God! Your generosity is overwhelming and this time of crisis brings to light the incredible goodness of our community. If you are wondering how you can help, we invite you to PRAY, FAST, and GIVE during this time. Please see our ‘Coronavirus: Care within the Crisis’ for opportunities to help in these ways. See especially the I’d like to Help Form and the NEEDS form if you need assistance in any way.
Stewardship. We like to say that “you can’t have a mission without the margin”. Friends, in these difficult times, especially without Sunday Mass, our weekly cash flow takes a significant hit. Please continue to send in your envelopes via mail and know that our staff will be still working during the week to process checks. We will continue to monitor this situation closely and are in communication with our finance councils.
Catholic East & UPLIFT Program. Know that our families connected with Catholic East Elementary and our UPLIFT Family Formation Program are in our thoughts and prayers! We are so grateful for the leadership of our principal Mr. Tony Gonzalez during this time. Mr. Gonzalez and our teachers have done an incredible job adjusting to the many demands caused by the statewide school closings! Thanks as well to SETON Catholic Schools for the assistance that they have provided.
St. Rita’s Opening Postponed. In consultation with our staff, we have decided to postpone the first Mass at the new St. Rita’s Church originally scheduled for Sunday, April 19th. We will communicate to you the new date as soon as we know more. Please continue to check the parish website as the most up-to-date source of information.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out to Fr. Tim (Cell: 414-762-7986; or Fr. John (Cell: 414-305-3824; if you need anything! Especially as we can’t gather around Sunday Mass this weekend, please know how deeply we already miss you. Blessings to you and your loved ones in these days.
Sincerely, with love,
Fr. Tim and Fr. John
