The 2019 National Reconciliation Week (NRW) theme is Grounded in Truth: Walk Together with Courage.
Many Australians have never heard or read the truths of our nation’s history since colonisation/invasion. This years NRW theme challenges us to learn more and inform ourselves of the history of colonisation including injustices committed against Australia’s First Nations peoples. This past continues to have an impact today. Engaging in reconciliation requires us to challenge our past learning and explore ways to continue to learn and reflect.

World Environment Day is held on June 5th every year. An environmental awareness day, run by the United Nations to raise awareness of the environment and specific environmental issues
The theme for 2019 is Air Pollution. Nine out of ten people worldwide breathe polluted air and 7 million premature deaths are caused by air pollution each year. While the highest rate of death is in third world countries, the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare 2016 estimated that about 3000 deaths each year in Australia are caused by urban air pollution.
Air pollution may seem complex and a difficult topic to explore. The WED toolkits provide a how-to guide on solutions to air pollution.
