ARTeries: Our  Adaption Story

Early last month we transitioned from daily routines of  sewing alterations and bridal fittings into development and production of PPE (Personal Protective  Equipment )  specifically cloth face masks for pedestrian use.

We curtailed client visits and sewing classes in Mid-March and started stitching prototypes for the cloth face masks we are currently producing. The two styles ARTeries are fabricating  are 100% cotton and  both fashionable yet functional for protective wear.

Before America entered quarantine,  Ali Marshall contacted me to conduct an interview about my business for  the green sustainability Mountain X issue in early April.
Between the interview and the release of the article, my business started to transform. Thomas Calder from Mountain  X called me to check-in and update the article on my current business strategies. That story can be found here.

In the past month, we have fulfilled over 100 orders and made 500+  cloth face masks for a variety of people both local to Asheville, friends in MD,VA,GA and as far away as California.
Our commitment to providing  custom sewing services has adapted to support the needs of our customers. Thank you for your support and love 💕 Stina

Becoming the Brave Face Cover Girl
meant not freezing in place and allowing fear to slow me down. Instead maintaining a steady eye on the needle perfecting the stitch. Putting other previous projects on the shelf. Canceling all future plans and answering the call to what was in the now for a sewist business in the Spring of 2020.

A word from behind the seams  Switching gears to suit the needs of the community from cleaning  Asheville's Air B & B   to now cutting fabrics for masks to protect you, your family, and your neighbors. Christine Miner has sewn and designed with ARTeries by Stina for 6 festival seasons. Her sense of humor and dedication make the "mask factory" an enjoyable experience.

ASAP Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project

We are happy to collaborate with ASAP  as they make the shift to provide temporary pop_up fresh food open air  markets.  We donated 30 Market Masks to keep their farmers and volunteers safe. Learn more about the ASAP farmer's market at AB-Tech campus here.

Market Masks

We developed this simple international pattern to quickly produce for distribution to ASAP and other local high need groups. Yesterday we dropped some  Market Masks off to the USPS in West Asheville when we shipped out your mask orders. This are simpler to produce and are affordable.
We are happy to alter our services to accommodate the current climate. We now provide curb service of local orders with a drop/pick up bin out front.
