Did you know...?
In 2007, the collapse of the Balearic frigate, a ship of more than 133 meters long - resting today at 400 meters from the Malgrats - was approved. This boat is a paradise for diving enthusiasts as it recreates an artificial reef that enhances the increase of marine life in the area. In this way, the boat protects, shelters and feeds the different species of fish, like the prairies of oceanic Posidonia. This artificial reef will improve and extend adjacent reserves as the reserve of El Toro, and reduce the pressure on natural reefs nearby.
The nature reserve of Malgrats is definitely a unique place where visitors and residents can enjoy nature in the wild, with responsible fishing and sports activities like diving, kayaking and sailing. For the visitor who can not access by sea, there is always the old lookout tower, which still houses an old iron cannon.
