'The Sweet Side of Mallorca'

If you ever wanted to visit Mallorca ... Now you can not resist! Let's discover Mallorca in the sweetest way: an area, a dessert. We warn you: take a napkin because it will make your mouth water!

Cardinal Lloseta: the best dessert in the world

Its original recipe is top secret. It’s originally from the very mythical Forn Baix, a furnace located in Lloseta and has a legion of followers. Many consider it the best dessert in the world!

It’s a base covered with Swiss meringue and in between, cake cream whipped with sugar and flavoured with cherry liqueur. It is virtually impossible to know the development process because it is a jealously guarded secret from generation to generation. Essential to make the taste reach the highest levels, is the following recommendation: consume it very cold, almost frozen, even in winter. It is without doubt one of the greatest pleasures you can experience. Just try it!

Quarts Embetumats Inca: a dessert with history
Made on the basis of a very light, fluffy, almost air cake for his levity, filling and topped with meringue egg yolk and covered with chocolate.

Their preparation dates back to the XIXth century. A curious anecdote, told by the then president of the Council of Ministers, the Spaniard Antoni Maura I Muntaner, involves King Alfonso XIII. On a visit to Palma on 25th April 1902, King Alfonso XIII could taste them and liked them so much he wanted to know where they were produced; They told him in Cas Donat (currently No. 16 Concepció Street) and the king visited the bakery and named the owner, surnamed Miralles, supplier of the Royal House. Years later, during the organization of a banquet, he remembered those "Quartos Embetumats" and telegraphed the Civil Governor to send him lots of them for his guests. But the officials in the Civil Government were not native and in a hurry figuring out what the King wanted. Finally, this reached the ears of the confectioner Cas Donat, who prepared hundreds of this “Quarts Embetumats", requested by the King.

Today is not easy to find establishments which manufacture the "Quartos Embetumats". Mundo Mediterráneo recommends above all Can Frasquet (Calle Orfila, 4) or other establishments like Can Joan of S'Aigo (Carrer Sanç, 10 and Baró Santa Maria del Sepulcre, 5) and the Pomar Pastry shops (Calle Manacor, 3, Calle Baró Santa Maria del Sepulcre, 12 and  Plaça , 20) of Palma and Campos.
