Design is always everchanging, evolving and adapting. Having knowledge of how to use design in a way that has a lasting impact over the years as well as staying relevant and purposeful is a powerful tool to have.

Consumers are looking for a special connection with a brand. This connection could be a personal, emotive one, or be thanks to a brand’s relevance or accessibility. Your logo, typography, iconography, graphic design elements, and all other pieces to your brand need to create this connection. We don’t want this to be a one-off impact, it should happen time and time again, letting your audience be continually impressed by your brand and gravitate towards it for years to come.

Thinking outside of the box and tackling the problem from a perspective of expanding rather than following will help you change your perception of how to use design principles in an effective way.

Analyse case studies of well-known brands in your industry and dig into how to apply those techniques to your practice. Look at current popular trends and approach them from a different angle. Keep asking questions. How can I use this and adapt it to my own practice?

Having an open mind to playfulness where you have the space to experiment, be curious and try new approaches will result in discovering unique elements. Our design process involves combining research, deep design knowledge and experimental practice to produce unique and distinctive outcomes for each of our clients. What if your brand was next?

Define, Report,
Repeat

The trick for getting a better ROI from your marketing activities is simpler than you might think.

Take a look at the cycle in the image above to see what we mean.

To improve your ROI, you first need to make sure you’re getting a clear picture of what’s working and what’s not.

Growth objectives - Keep these clear, realistic and time-bound (look up ‘SMART objectives’ to get this bit really spot on).
Defined metrics - Match up your metrics to your objectives to make sure they are giving you useful insights and learnings (see bonus tip below!).
Meaningful reporting - Focus on where things are going great and opportunities for improvements. Most importantly, include detailed action points. No more surface-level insights.
Clear ROI - The crystal clear view you’ve been waiting for.
REPEAT - Cycle back to setting the targets for your next activities.

With a true gauge of how your marketing activities are performing in line with your growth ambitions, you can confidently make advancements, improvements and updates to boost your ROI not just once, but continually.

BONUS TIP: Track the details to reveal big-picture success.

Results don’t always come about overnight (although we’ve been known to make it happen).

A new Business Development Manager needs time to get their training completed, strategy set up, and pipeline built before they start bringing in sales.

Your marketing plan needs the same care, attention and runway to create conversions.

You need to take your target audience on the journey from finding out about your brand to choosing to work with you. Great marketing makes this process efficient and highly effective.

So, whilst C-suite Execs will largely be paying attention to sales and revenue, the reason we marketers look at the detail of how many follows, views and engagements you’re getting is to highlight the bigger results that are about to hit.

The awareness you’re building this month can mean new sales in the next.

Don’t stop your campaign before it gets started. Ask us about how we’ll deliver clear ROI from your tailored marketing strategy.
