Elmwood Park Neighborhood Association

Happy New Year!

What another fantastic year we had in our neighborhood. 2019 brought lots of fun, new neighbors and growth for our community. We hope you and your family had a great one and are looking forward to an even more exciting 2020.

Curiosity Coffee Bar Happy Hours 🕔😄🍻

On January 7th, Elmwood Park residents joined together for our first Neighborhood Happy Hour hosted at Curiosity Coffee Bar. The turnout was fantastic and we saw a lot of new faces. Thank you to Curiosity Coffee for hosting!

If you missed it, don't fret! We have 3 more Curiosity Coffee Bar happy hours planned for this spring! Be sure to mark your calendars for:

Events start at 5:30pm and end at 7:30pm, so grab your neighbor and meet us at the [coffee] bar!

Board Vacancies

2020 not only brings a new year but also board vacancies for the Elmwood Park Neighborhood Association Board.

This year's vacancies include the officer positions:

  • President
  • Vice President
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer

These positions run on a two-year term and elections will be held at the May 4th meeting. If you would like to run for any of the above positions, declaration of intent to run must be made at the March 2nd meeting

Details about each of the positions can be found in the Neighborhood by-laws hosted on our website.

And remember, you must be a MEMBER in order to vote!

Yard of the Month

Baby it’s cold outside - well on some days, others its in the 70s – yay South Carolina -  and the YOMC has decided, as have our trees and hedges, plants and flowers (except for those crazy roses and camellias that WILL NOT STOP BLOOMING!) to hibernate for the month. And so, instead of a yard of the month, a poem for long gray days and short, cold nights:

Alfred, Lord Tennyson, ‘Ring out, wild bells’.

Ring out, wild bells, to the wild sky,
The flying cloud, the frosty light:
The year is dying in the night;
Ring out, wild bells, and let him die.

Ring out the old, ring in the new,
Ring, happy bells, across the snow:
The year is going, let him go;
Ring out the false, ring in the true…

Dear Elmwood friends, Let us now raise a glass to friends and family near and far, to neighbors new and old, to gardens we remember with joy and to new ones set to unfold.  May 2020 be a good year for us all!

Porch Parties 🏠🎉

2020 Porch Parties will begin soon and we're looking for hosts!

Starting in April and running through October, neighbors are asked to open their porches to their neighbors on the first Friday of the month for a night of fun and fellowship. The events are potluck, so we simply ask that you make your porch and a restroom available, and attendees will bring a dish or drink to share.

If you are interested in hosting a porch party this year, please e-mail EPNA Board Member, Katie Beck, at and she'll give you details and answer any questions you may have.
  • April - Friday, April 3
  • May - Friday, May 1
  • June - Friday, June 5
  • July - Friday, July 3
  • August - Friday, August 7
  • September - Friday, September 4
  • October - Friday, October 2

Important Dates

  • Our next neighborhood meeting is scheduled for 7:00pmMonday, March 2nd, at Logan Elementary. We hope to see you there!
  • It's never too early to think about Halloween! If you're new to our 'hood, ask your neighbor about what to expect. It will be here before we know it, which means lots of streets throughout the neighborhood will be shut down for a fun night of trick-or-treating. This year, Halloween falls on a Saturday, so streets will close beginning at 5:00 pm. Mark your calendars!
