The festival celebrates Lord Ganesha as the God of New Beginnings and the Remover of Obstacles as well as the god of Wisdom and Intelligence.

Join us in the celebration of Ganesh Chathurthi, the sacred day of Lord Ganesha's birth, with abhishekam, homam and more! 
September 2nd,  7 am - 10 am

Bala Vihar Updates


No Bala Vihar classes on September 1st 2019
in observance of Labor Day holiday weekend.


 
  • Bala Vihar and Language Open house - September 8th!
       
    • Parents meet and greet with their children's Bala Vihar class facilitators and volunteers during the session.
    • Parents learn more about the Hindi and Samskritam programs during their session from 10:15am to 11:15am.
       
    Come a few minutes early to park at the TXDOT parking lot in front of Sundaram and join us to learn about our Bala Vihar program! 

     



     
  • Ganesh Chathurthi / Grandparents Day Annadaanam Lunch Sponsorship:  On Sunday, Sept 8, we will be celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi and the start of the 2019-2020 academic year at Bala Vihar.  Sept 8 is also National Grandparents Day!  Bring your grandparents along to be a part of the celebration and appreciate the joy and wisdom they bring to our lives by sponsoring a special lunch in their honor!
     

 
Sundaram Updates

 
  • Wednesday Study GroupsThe CMA Study Groups will reconvene every Wednesday to review and discuss Vedantic texts under the guidance of Dr. Meena Patel.  The groups will study the text, Bhaja Govindam by Adi Shankaracharya.   Please do reach out to us at info@chinmayaaustin.org for additional information.  The groups meet at 
    • CMA Sundaram: Wednesday from 11:45 am - 1:00 pm
    • South Austin residence: Wednesday from 7:45 pm - 9:00 pm
  • Bhagavad Gita Chanting Classes:   New sessions for children and adults who would like to learn to chant the Bhagavad Gita starting August 18th.
    • Sunday 10:15 - 11:15am: Mainly for Bala vihar students and members, the goal is to learn to chant about 50 shlokas with correct and authentic pronunciation. Register here.
    • Tuesday, Thursday 7:00pm - 8:00pm: Learn to chant and memorize all 18 chapters of Bhagavad Gita over a 10 month period.  Register here.

2020 Mahasamadhi Camp

2020 - The Perfect Vision is the theme of the next Chinmaya Mahasamdhi Aradhana Camp in  California from July 30 - August 3 2020.  This family camp is a spiritual retreat for all ages with discourses by various swamins, brahmacharins and teachers of Chinmaya Mission.

"A family that prays together, stays together."  Please come as a family and be part of the various temple activities.  Let the children learn the beautiful ways of offering their prayers and devotion by watching and helping the priest in these activities.

    • Sunday : Bhagavad Gita discourses in temple during Bala Vihar
  • Temple Weekly Services:
    • Rudrabhishekham: 6:30 pm on Mondays and Pradosha days
    • Shri Krishna Abhishekam: 6:30 pm on Thursdays
    • Devi Meenakshi Abhishekam: 6:30 pm on Fridays
    • Sathyanaraya Puja: Purninma days
    • Morning Puja: 10:00 am daily
    • Evening Puja : 6:30pm daily
  • Temple Support:
    • Would you like to provide dravya for the daily temple puja e.g. milk for the abhishekam, flowers for the deity puja, etc? Now you can bring your offering on the specified day - contact temple@chinmayaaustin.org or reach out to Priest Eswarji at 512-820-3004.
    • Priest services are available at certain temple times only.
