LGF launches crowdfunding campaign to support student docs about Vietnam veterans

In September 2017, PBS will air Ken Burns' new documentary, The Vietnam War. The 10-part, 18-hour film will cover all aspects of the war. In coordination with the release of The Vietnam War, Land Grant Films is producing a half-an-hour documentary program, profiling Vietnam veterans from East Tennessee.

Land Grant Films has selected three sets of student filmmakers and provided them with grants and production support to create short documentaries. The three student-produced short documentaries will be put together in a magazine-format, half-hour show. East Tennessee PBS has agreed to multiple airing of the program.

Your donations will directly help UT students get real world production experience and credits. It will also allow Land Grant Films to share the stories of the brave men who fought in Vietnam, like Captain Bill Robinson (pictured above).

While serving in Vietnam, Capt. Robinson, an East Tennessee native, was captured and held as a POW for more than seven years. A documentary about his inspiring story of courage and commitment will be created by School of Journalism and Electronic Media senior Jesse Tipton.

COMING SOON
We are almost ready to release our newest documentary, "Seven Days in America." The half-hour documentary follows a Burundian family as they resettle in Knoxville after living in a refugee camp in Tanzania for 12 years. This documentary was completed in collaboration with Bridge Refugee Services. We will be sure to share information about release dates and airings once they are confirmed.
