Have you ever said something that the second the words came out of your mouth you realized, "Oh brother, why did I say that?" Our gospel story today reminds me of that experience. One of my favorite movies, Napoleon Dynamite, can give us a contemporary experience.
Overview: Jesus’ temptation in the wilderness was a personal test that empowered him for his coming life. Similarly, spiritual formation is about choosing to enter into times of testing in order to strengthen us for radical discipleship. Human Need: When we face tough times we struggle to understand the meaning behind what is happening.
Community Challenge: Our sacred story invites us to find sources of spiritual support and consolation around us and to learn dependence on God by entering into the spiritual wildernesses of our lives, particularly in the Lenten season.

This first step will provide answers to lots of questions you may have about the training program. We are so very excited about this partnership and emerging ministry!
SMALL GROUP MINISTRIES
Our next small group series begins on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights from February 20/21/22 through March 20/21/22. This 5-week study will focus on the Lenten theme "Chocolate for Lent" based on the movie Chocolat. Using themes from the 2000 Academy Award nominated film, this unique approach to the Lenten season creates space for deeper insights into self-discipline, self-giving, conversation, acceptance and maturing in Christ. You won't want to miss it...and you won't HAVE to eat chocolate to enjoy it! Read more about the book study HERE.
