We're starting off the month with some big wins in Chapel Hill Magazine's Best of Chapel Hill 2018! Both Open Eye Cafe and Caffe Driade walked away with Favorite Coffee Shop, and dozens of our retail clients received nods of their own. You can check out the full list of winners here.
This month, we're excited to be supporting the OneWorld Play Project, by donating One World Futbols that never need a pump and never goes flat; that will be distributed in schools in over 100 rural coffee communities in Colombia, Peru, and Ecuador! One World Play Project have delivered footballs to an estimated 60 million youth in 185 countries, where conditions cause regular futbols to pop and become useless quite quickly. Join us in donating if you can so all get a chance to play!
And finally, Carrboro Coffee Roasters recently lost a member of our coffee family. Tomas Sosa Calderon, one of our original Direct Relationship farmers, passed away at his home in Honduras. We invite you to help us memorialize Tomas and support his family and local community. When you purchase our Tomas Sosa Calderon – Finca El Aquacate coffee, Carrboro Coffee will donate a percentage of these sales to continue his legacy of producing world-class coffee on their farm in the mountains of Comayaugua. Funds will go to build new drying beds for next years harvest, with an eye towards future programs in their community.
Read more about Tomas and his relationship with Carrboro Coffee from our founder Scott Conary below. And, please purchase this delicious coffee at our flagship cafes, at retail or with our cafe partners, or in our online store.
