September 2016

Greetings SDA Members,
Welcome to the new InsideSDA newsletter for the month of September! Moving forward, this will be your monthly update on all things SDA: news and views, quick links, member and local group spotlights, Journal and SDA Blog love, and any other information to keep you up to date and in the know.

As ever, we are here to support you through this process! Please reach out to Trevi or  myself with questions, concerns, or feedback. Your opinion matters! Change is not without its challenges, but all is in the effort to better serve you and your needs. Thank you for choosing SDA as we continue to work hard to be a place for support and connectivity in the studio and beyond!

SDA thanks...

Please join us in giving a shout out of appreciation to SDA Group Communications Editor Gerrie Congdon and Website Manager LM Wood.

For many years, Gerrie Congdon (left) was our go-to person who undertook tasks under four Executive Directors. Recently, as Group Communications Editor, Gerrie assisted SDA with its quirky database and formatted newsletters for local SDA groups.  Now that the new database is in place, Gerrie is looking forward to retiring to her studio practice in Portland, Oregon, where she creates and then quilts her fabrics. Read more about Gerrie's busy studio.

LM Wood first came to SDA administration in 2009, serving as website committee member and then in 2010, volunteering as Project Manager for our previous website, a vast undertaking. We were so fortunate to have her serve in that capacity; she continues as SDA’s Website Manager until early October. An Associate Professor of Art at Elon University, LM is dedicated to education and teaching.  Her professional expertise is diverse: art, digital art, photography, fibers and she has exhibited her art widely on the national scene. Visit her website

We cannot begin to adequately express our gratitude to Gerrie and LM for their dedication and work for SDA. We wish both of you well and hope that your studio time will be the next beneficiary of your efforts.

Special thanks to SDA member volunteer, artist, and all around wonder woman Becka Rahn for her design of our new InsideSDA. As Minnesota Area Rep, Becka gives of her time and talents to support SDA members in her state and beyond. A multi-faceted cultural worker and maker, learn more here. Thank you for all you do, Becka!
