Like many of you - our supporters, members, volunteers, and community at large - the COVID-19 pandemic drastically impacted and shaped this year at Woman Made Gallery. We, together, adapted to new methods of connection with our arts community locally and across the globe, suffered indescribable losses, and participated in urgent national dialogue about race, gender, power, and justice.
Through it all and with your support,
Woman Made Gallery remained committed to our mission and continues to advocate for women-identified, nonbinary and the many artists that live and work within the margins.
In this transformative year, we proudly included programs like:
- 3RD MIDWEST OPEN juried by Mia Lopez that demonstrated the incredible diversity of artistic practices in the Midwest across mediums, as well as POETS FROM THE MIDWEST curated by Nina Corwin that featured six poets and spoken word performances.
- TOUCH, HOME, and LOSS juried respectively by Gina Lee Robbins, Jennifer Weigel, and Felicia Grant Preston that allowed WMG to showcase women artists in virtual space and work through themes directly responding to the pandemic.
- WHAT ARE YOU VOTING FOR? a virtual exhibition juried by Karen Gutfreund and Sherri Cornett that acknowledged the high stakes of the November 2020 election, and asked women-identified artists to share what they were voting for.
- 23RD INTERNATIONAL OPEN, juried by Juana Williams that presented Williams' "belief that there are a plethora of women artists across the globe producing masterfully created artwork, within every medium."
- CONVERATIONS ON DISABILITY with artist and disability advocate Oaklee Thiele that presented Thiele's work in the studio and the importance of accessibility in the arts.
We are grateful for your generosity during this critical time that has allowed us to continue our mission to serve diverse audiences and support women artists, poets, and creatives from all backgrounds.

Reciprocity
Juried by Collaborators Barbara Ciurej + Lindsay Lochman
ON VIEW: March 4 - April 3, 2021
SUBMISSIONS DEADLINE: January 31, 2021
Reciprocity is a relation of mutual dependence, action or influence. In photography, reciprocity refers to the relationship between the aperture (f-stop) and shutter speed, which work dependently and inversely to capture light. It is the key to the perfect exposure.
In reciprocal relationships, like in any collaborative act, ideas and conversations are exchanged, enriching participants intellectually and emotionally. Whether through aesthetic bond, mentor/mentee relationships, friendship, photographer/subject or teacher to student, our pursuits are sustained by these relationships.
To celebrate the reciprocal bonds that enrich our photographic practices, Woman Made Gallery invites women-identified and non-binary artists from the local, national, and international community to pair their photograph with that of another practicing photographer or image maker with whom they are in conversation. 2 and 3 dimensional forms, plus video will be considered.

And still, WMG has so much more to look forward to. We are filled with hope that the lessons learned in 2020 will bring us a better 2021.

THANK YOU! To our supports, members, exhibiting artists, volunteers and community members, your support means everything to Woman Made Gallery. Wishing you all warmth, love, and strength at this time as we enter a bright new year.
In Solidarity,
