Introit “Introit” from TOUCH by Allan Petker
(see note below for more information)
Reading Psalm 107:1-9, 43 Read by Mary Pritchard
We give thanks to You,
who are the Source of Love;
whose Light shines forth
throughout the universe!
Come, awaken our hearts that
we might do your Work;
For, without You, we can do nothing;
’tis your Love that loves
through us.
Gather us in from all the lands,
from the east and the west,
from the south and the north.
Let all who are hungry and thirsty,
whose souls are faint within
them,
Cry out to the Most Merciful to give
them succour,
to nourish them with healing
love;
For fear cannot live where love, grace,
and gentleness abide.
Enter into the Great Silence,
where you may hear the voice
of the Beloved,
Who satisfies the hungry soul,
and quenches the thirsty with
streams of Living Water.
Whoever is wise, let them ponder
these things,
let all people reflect on the
gifts of the Beloved.

Closing Words
May God bless you and keep you.
May God’s face shine upon you and be gracious to you.
May the eyes of your heart be open to all the blessings which surround you;
may this awareness produce a harvest of generosity in your spirit.
May thankfulness rise up within you, not just during this short season,
but day after day, from the early morning watch until you retire for the night.
May your prayers reflect gratitude, while also acknowledging the needs of others.
May the love of Christ fill your mind and heart, and thanksgiving be your response.

About Today’s “Introit” from “Touch” by Allan Robert Petker
Allan Petker, a renowned choral conductor and a published composer and arranger with over 250 titles in print, is a former Marin resident and Presbyterian Church of Novato choir director. In 1994 he formed Consort Chorale, an ensemble of 50 auditioned voices from the San Francisco Bay area, of which our choir director, Martha Wall, is a founding member and current singer. “Touch” is a multi-media work for chorus and chamber orchestra in three movements, composed in 2009 and based on the paintings of He Qi, a contemporary Chinese Christian artist. “Touch” was recorded at First Presbyterian Church of San Anselmo with the voices of Consort Chorale and local orchestral talent, conducted by the composer.
The selection today is an excerpt from the 26-minute work, titled “Introit: God Touches Us.”
