Dear Member of Shambhala Europe,
The Shambhala Board acknowledges that healing and repair is an imperative for our community, and aspires to repair past and current harm, particularly for those individuals who have experienced harm due to aggression, failings on the part of the organization, or actions within the Shambhala community. The Shambhala Board is committed to changing our culture in a way that ensures care, accountability, transparency and inclusivity in all our actions and programs.
We are pleased to announce, as part of the previously announced Therapy and Counselling Offering based in North America, we are partnering with Ms. Irmi Jeuther, to pilot an ongoing counselling and therapy programme in Europe. Irmi Jeuther is a Counsellor with the German Buddhist Union, a Dharma teacher, and a certified psychologist with seven years as a consultant and therapist in Heidelberg for women and girls experiencing sexual violence (see Irmi Jeuther’s bio below).
Ms. Jeuther provides counselling in German and English. If someone wishes to access the counselling service in another language, this is possible by bringing a translator to the initial meeting with Ms. Jeuther. Afterwards, access to the therapy subsidy may be arranged in coordination with the Peoples’ Counselling Clinic and a therapist who speaks the preferred language.
You Are Invited to Attend a Meeting on:
Thursday, April 15th at 19h-20h CET
We are inviting European Sangha members to a meeting to learn more about the Therapy and Counselling pilot program. This meeting is a chance to receive information about the offering from Irmi Jeuther (Counsellor), Tara Templin (Director of Community Care and Conduct), and Joanna Francis (Director of Shambhala Europe), and there will be an opportunity for questions and answers. The call will be recorded and made available to the European community shortly after. The one-hour call will be offered in English, with translation available in German, and other languages as requested. (Please contact Sophie Leger at firstname.lastname@example.org, if you would like to request translation).

Counselling and Therapy Programme Description
We hope that an offering of counselling and therapy will contribute to a healthy and vibrant Shambhala community, as well as provide individual support for community members in their healing journey. This offering was designed with the valuable input from community members with a trauma and therapy background.
Shambhala’s Therapy and Counselling Programme for community members in Europe offers the following supports:
A Counselling Service in German or English (or other languages if you can provide a translator): Individuals wishing to access a free, single-session, confidential counselling service can contact Irmi Jeuther at 0179-11 40 931 or email@example.com. Individuals will be contacted to schedule an appointment with Ms. Jeuther, who will provide immediate support, information about the therapy offering, and referrals.
Therapy Subsidy: After accessing the counseling service, individuals may be referred to therapy. If the cost of therapy is not already subsidized in the country of residence, a one-time subsidy of up to $500 USD, or equivalent in EURO, is available to help cover the cost of therapy sessions with a registered therapist. Ms. Irmi Jeuther will provide a form to the referred individual to submit to a registered therapist, who can apply to cover the costs of therapy provision.
Leadership Support: A counselling service for leaders in Shambhala looking to support others in their healing, and seeking support themselves. To access the Leadership Counselling Service, contact Irmi Jeuther at 0179-11 40 931 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Individuals will be contacted to schedule an appointment.
To access these services contact Irmi Jeuther at 0179-11 40 931 or email@example.com. Leave a message with your name and phone number or email address, as well as identify that you are calling regarding the Shambhala programme. You will be contacted within 1-2 business days to schedule a phone or zoom call.
If you have specific questions about the therapy and counselling offering, we encourage you to contact the Director of Community Care and Conduct at firstname.lastname@example.org or Irmi Jeuther at email@example.com.
In the Vision of the Great Eastern Sun,
Tara Templin, Director of Community Care and Conduct
