Fall Semester Wrapping Up!

It is hard to believe that the year is coming to and end and that the fall semester is almost done! Our fall semester has been busy and full. Charlie continues to split his time at Black Forest Academy between the maintenance department and teaching. With 2 campuses, 7 dorms, and BFA owned appartments there is a never ending list of maintenance projects. Being part of this department is a blessing for our family as the team is close and enjoys time together. This weekend we are heading out for a maintenance team retreat at Chalet Janz Team in Adelboden, Switzerland to enjoy some family bonding time.

Charlie continues to teach industrial arts class and added a study hall this semester. As their service project, the industrial arts class is making new mailboxes for the student center. The students enjoy the small class size and hands on learning. Charlie also chaperoned the Sophomore trip to Natzweiler-Struthof concentration camp and Ribeauville, France. For Charlie and many of the students, it was there first time experiencing a concentration camp. A sobering reminder of suffering in this world and the need for our Savior.

This semester I, Alyson, started co-leading a small group Bible study with 4 Sophomore girls. The girls come from families living in France, Switzerland, Spain, and England. Three are dorm students and one is a home student. Thankfully, our group has started to form some strong bonds with each other. It is a joy to help disciple these girls. Each one has so much to offer with very different backgrounds! So, far this semester we have enjoyed sharing our testimonies, digging into the book of John, and helping wrap Christmas boxes for local refugee children.

Prayer Request:
  • For the students to finish out the semester strong.
  • For Alyson's small group girls to continue to build strong friendships and encourage each other to live for Christ.
  • For safe travels and a refreshing time on the maintenance team retreat this weekend.
  • Christmas Banquet is coming up soon! Please pray for the students to have a great time of fellowship with minimal amounts of drama!
  • Please continue to pray for Alyson's pregnancy. 24 weeks along and doing well, but some issues with her thyroid function.

We can not say thank you enough for making our ministry at Black Forest Academy a reality! Thank you for all the ways you support and bless our family. In December we will send out a family update. In the mean time Happy Thanksgiving!
