Greetings Seven Hills Families,
We are in the time of year where our students participate in different state and district assessments. Last week, students who receive English Language services took the ACCESS test. The ACCESS tests are English language proficiency assessments used to meet federal and state legislative requirements. These assessments are used to monitor English learners’ progress as they develop academic language skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Our elementary students began taking the second round of Interim Assessments in reading and math. Due to the snow day interruption, they will continue with these assessments into next week.
Our elementary students have been fortunate to have author and illustrator Mike Wohnoutka visit our school! He read, drew, and shared how he comes up with his ideas for books and how he makes his drawings. Students also got to decorate their own bookmarks from the visit.
Our 7th grade students are gearing up for their overnight field trip to Camp St. Croix. Students will leave on Tuesday, March 7th and return back to school on Thursday, March 9th. They will embark on outdoor adventures to learn about the environment around them and even learn how to sleep in a room with 10 of their peers. We look forward to hearing about all the fun when they return!
I hope your families found some time to enjoy the snowy weather and either cuddle up on a couch or get out in the snow.
Have a great weekend!

Special Education Director
