Hello Seven Hills' Families!

Happy Women's History Month! Students will have opportunities this month to understand and celebrate important women and their contributions. MN's own Jessie Diggins (Nordic Skier), made history just last week. So don't forget to inspire the next generation of young history makers and continue this conversation at home!

Today our educators are working diligently to complete report cards for your children. This trimester your report cards will include comments from your student's teachers. We do this for trimesters that we do not meet for conferences, as a way to provide additional information to families. Teachers will also explore our current behavioral systems and how to improve them based on data, research, and shared experiences.

Spring Break is just weeks away, but before we take time away from each other we want to celebrate the great work we've accomplished this year with Spirit Week, March 20-24.  (Please see information below on the themes for each day.) This year, we are adding a food drive to our celebration! We will be collecting nonperishable food items in classrooms for VEAP during Spirit Week, please consider sending items with your child.

BC Civitas Fair 2023
Our annual community fair, called the Civitas Fair (pronounced kēwēˌtäs), is on Thursday, April 27th from 5pm - 7pm and showcases and celebrates the many facets that make us Seven Hills. We have food and sharing at the Cultural Fair, research and inquiry at the Science Fair, creativity and expression with the schoolwide Art Project, dictation and application with the Latin Bee, as well as Literacy Games and Math Activities. Information and sign up links can be found at our BC Civitas Fair homepage. We hope to see you all there!

Spirit Week and Food Drive
Spirit Week is March 20th - 24th. The Spirit Week Flyer details the themes for each day. Students and staff will be dressing up each day with a new theme. Classsrooms will also be collecting non-perishable food donations for our local foodshelf this week. Please consider sending some with your students. Classrooms will have additional incentives.
Charter School Day at the Capitol
Wednesday marked the annual Charter School Day @ the Capitol. This is the annual opportunity for the entire charter school community (administrators, board members, educators, and parents) to come together to meet with legislators, tell the story of Minnesota's charter schools, and advocate for public policy for charter school students.
It’s critical to have a relationship with our legislators to make sure they know the Seven Hills' story and understand the important charter school policy priorities for our school community. This year Ms. Bannit and Mr. Leaf from the Richfield Campus joined Mr. Whitebread and Mr. Peterson from the Bloomington Campus to advocate on behalf of Seven Hills. (See our photo below with Senator Wiklund.) If you'd like more information on the event or how/why to contact your legislators ahead of important sessions this spring, please email Mr. Peterson (

Updated Parent or Guardian’s Guide to School: This guide describes and explains the public school system in Minnesota and the role families can play in their child’s education. It is a practical guide to help parents or guardians understand their student’s rights as well as the opportunities and resources available to the families and students. The guide was updated in December 2022 and can be found on MDE’s English Learner Education page. MDE is working to get the document translated in the future.

2023-2024 Open Enrollment:
Do you have a son or daughter in your household that will be eligible to join SHPA for the 23-24 school year? Do you know a family that wants to join our exciting school community? Please click HERE to learn more about the Open Enrollment process.

**Please note, current 2022-23 SHPA students DO NOT have to re enroll for the 2023-24 school year.

School Website
Please use our current website to read about many aspects of our school life, including schedules, events, and updates. This is a great place to find information or answer questions that arise. Our goal is to keep open, consistent and detailed communication with everyone and we update the website information regularly.
BC Covid-19 Updates

If your child tests positive for COVID-19, please contact Ms. Peters, School Nurse, and follow the MDH COVID-19 Isolation Guide. Contact Mr. Barrios, COVID-19 Coordinator, with any questions and see the SHPA COVID-19 Webpage for resources and information.

Spring Scholastic Bookfair -- March 13 & 14: Join us! Each SHPA campus will host the Fair on March 13 and 14 from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day.
Get ready for your Book Fair in three important ways!
  1. Parent volunteers are needed! Review the volunteer information linked here, and sign up for a time that works for you!
  2. Donate to a Teacher eWallet. Teachers will use the funds donated to purchase books for their classrooms. The list of Teacher eWallets is linked here.
  3. Preview the books for sale, and set up an eWallet for your student via the SHPA Scholastic Book Fair homepages linked here:
    • Richfield Campus Fair Info: HERE
    • Bloomington Campus Fair info: HERE
Spirit Gear online Sales -- March 19: Online sales are almost ready to re-open! Purchase SHPA spirit gear online via our Spirit Gear page on the PTA website. The PTA will coordinate the delivery of your purchase based on the time of your order. Thank you for supporting SHPA through our Spirit Gear!

Monthly PTA Meeting -- March 20: All are welcome! All SHPA parents and teachers are welcome to join, whether or not you've formalized your membership. We'll meet at the Bloomington campus in room 20 (downstairs) for social time and light snacks at 5:00 p.m., and the meeting runs from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Child care will be provided in Room 22. Our agenda is currently being finalized, and is linked here to preview. Join us, and bring a friend!

Want to serve on the PTA Board? Elections are open for the position of PTA Vice President and PTA Treasurer. Serving on the PTA board is an excellent way to grow your volunteer leadership experience, and influence how we spend our funds raised throughout the year. Not to mention, you'll spend time with an excellent group of genuine SHPA parents and teachers from both SHPA campuses. Interested in learning more? Email us at Elections will be held mid-April.

Online Family Directory: Do you know another SHPA parent who wants to meet and be able to communicate with other SHPA families? Encourage them to join the Online Family Directory! Parents can go to the new SHPA PTA website and click "Sign In" at the upper right corner of the page, and create a username and password for themselves. Questions? Email the PTA at, and one of our board members will be happy to assist!
