Hello Seven Hills' Families!
Happy Women's History Month! Students will have opportunities this month to understand and celebrate important women and their contributions. MN's own Jessie Diggins (Nordic Skier), made history just last week. So don't forget to inspire the next generation of young history makers and continue this conversation at home!
Today our educators are working diligently to complete report cards for your children. This trimester your report cards will include comments from your student's teachers. We do this for trimesters that we do not meet for conferences, as a way to provide additional information to families. Teachers will also explore our current behavioral systems and how to improve them based on data, research, and shared experiences.
Spring Break is just weeks away, but before we take time away from each other we want to celebrate the great work we've accomplished this year with Spirit Week, March 20-24. (Please see information below on the themes for each day.) This year, we are adding a food drive to our celebration! We will be collecting nonperishable food items in classrooms for VEAP during Spirit Week, please consider sending items with your child.
Sincerely,
Brent Peterson

Charter School Day at the Capitol
Wednesday marked the annual Charter School Day @ the Capitol. This is the annual opportunity for the entire charter school community (administrators, board members, educators, and parents) to come together to meet with legislators, tell the story of Minnesota's charter schools, and advocate for public policy for charter school students.
It’s critical to have a relationship with our legislators to make sure they know the Seven Hills' story and understand the important charter school policy priorities for our school community. This year Ms. Bannit and Mr. Leaf from the Richfield Campus joined Mr. Whitebread and Mr. Peterson from the Bloomington Campus to advocate on behalf of Seven Hills. (See our photo below with Senator Wiklund.) If you'd like more information on the event or how/why to contact your legislators ahead of important sessions this spring, please email Mr. Peterson (bpeterson@shpamn.org).

Updated Parent or Guardian’s Guide to School: This guide describes and explains the public school system in Minnesota and the role families can play in their child’s education. It is a practical guide to help parents or guardians understand their student’s rights as well as the opportunities and resources available to the families and students. The guide was updated in December 2022 and can be found on MDE’s English Learner Education page. MDE is working to get the document translated in the future.

Elections will be held mid-April.
Online Family Directory: Do you know another SHPA parent who wants to meet and be able to communicate with other SHPA families? Encourage them to join the Online Family Directory!
