Health Update: We are experiencing a rise in illnesses this week, including flu and cold symptoms that are significantly impacting classrooms. Please review the Influenza Information Sheet to learn more.
While illnesses are high, families concerned about the spread of such illnesses to their family may want to consider having their students wear masks as an additional preventative measure. These can be found in the main office or nurse’s office. Also, if a student is sick at home or is sent home from school for an illness, they are NOT to return to school until they are free of symptoms and/or a fever for a full 24-hour period. For more information click HERE.
COVID-19 Update: Please fill out THIS FORM to receive a COVID-19 test kit in your child’s backpack on Monday, November 21. Contact Mr. Barrios, COVID-19 Coordinator, at mbarrios@shpamn.org, with any questions.
New Website 2023: SHPA will be designing a new website! We are looking for input from our community to better serve our students, parents/guardians, and staff. Please take this short New Website Survey to help inform us of your thoughts and needs as we continue this process.
Child Tax Credit Deadline: Millions of eligible families may easily claim the expanded Child Tax Credit (CTC) until Nov. 15, 2022. Eligible families can claim the CTC at GetCTC.org/mn.
Many families may not know that they are eligible for the CTC or that they can still claim it using a simplified filing tool. Families can also use the simplified tool to file their tax return if they have not yet received the third stimulus check. The simplified tool GetCTC.org/mn is for families who do not have a 2021 filing requirement – typically this means their income is below $12,550 if filing single, or $25,100 if filing married. The traditional filing method is still available until 2025. The November 15 deadline is for those interested in using the electronic portal.
One Chip Challenge: We are aware that social media trends are prevalent and may seem exciting for students to engage in. Some of you may have seen the "One Chip Challenge'' on social media. For safety reasons, we cannot allow this challenge or these chips at either Seven Hills' campus. In the past, we have had students get sick doing this challenge. Students will receive consequences for participating or bringing these chips to school. Thank you for your help and support in this matter.
2023-2024 Open Enrollment for New SHPA Students Opens November 1, 2022: Do you have a son or daughter in your household that will be eligible to join SHPA for the 23-24 school year? Do you know a family that wants to join our exciting school community? Please click HERE to learn more about the Open Enrollment process and the link to sign up for the 23-24 school year will be live at 12:01am on November 1, 2022.
**Please note, current 2022-23 SHPA students DO NOT have to re enroll for the 2023-24 school year.
Cold Weather Reminder:
With the cooling temperatures and incoming colder weather, please make sure your students start bringing their jackets, hats, boots, and mittens. Students will go outside everyday for recess unless it rains or the air temperature is below 0 or the wind chill is below -10.
Volunteer Opportunity:
We are looking for a parent or guardian volunteer to assist in our Elementary lunchroom every day, 11am-12pm. Duties would include working with the lead lunch supervisor, helping students with opening their milk or food items, and helping with clean up. If you are interested, please email Principal Farrell at cfarrell@shpamn.org.
Important Update to Dismissal Procedures:
If your child walks and/or rides a bike to and from school each day, please email our Office Receptionist Ms. Moreno at ymoreno@shpamn.org. We will make an official list of students walking and riding their bikes as their primary mode of transportation to and from school. We will also provide crossing guards for you to safely cross the intersection at Girard Ave and 76th Street. **If you are not a walker or a biker, parents and family members are not allowed to park at Bethel's Rock or US Bank and walk up to the school to pick up your child. All families must follow the arrival and dismissal process in order to maintain safety for our students who are walking out to busses and family vehicles. We appreciate your attention and cooperation to a successful process.
