Hello SHPA Families,
It has been so refreshing to see the sun shining so brightly this past week. I know that the snow still covering the ground is deceiving, but Spring is right around the corner! We have begun our final trimester of the school year and are enjoying the fresh start it brings to us all.
Seven Hills has some exciting things coming up! Next week is an LEA wide food drive and Spirit Week. In addition to bringing items to donate to our local food shelf, see the schedule below to see how your child can participate in the dress up days!
Morning Monday: Monday's are sometimes hard, wear comfy clothes or school appropriate PJs.
Talented Tuesday: Dress as your favorite historical figure or celebrity
Wordy Wednesday: Dress as your favorite author or book character
Throwback Thursday: Dress from a different decade
Fanatics Friday: Wear your favorite sport's gear or team's gear
Following our Spring Break that takes place March 27th to March 31st, we will have Parent-Teacher Conferences on April 6th and 7th. Sign up information will be sent home next week. We encourage all of our families to sign up for a time and connect with your child’s teachers. We value any time we can make home and school connections, and share ways we can continue to work together to provide the best support for each student.
Enjoy the sunnier days and warmer weather I know is headed our way!
Best –

During the month of March, people throughout Minnesota come together to raise funds and collect food for their local food shelves as part of the March Food Share Campaign. This year we will be hosting a food drive along with Spirit Week to support our local food shelves. The class or advisory that collects the most nonperishable food items will get a reward. For more information on Spirit Week themes or how to turn in nonperishable food items click HERE.
Richfield Campus Civitas Fair: Help support and celebrate this year's Civitas Fair by ordering a special one time t-shirt designed by one of our very own students. Please click HERE to order.

COVID-19 Update: If your child tests positive for COVID-19, please contact Ms. Erickson, School Nurse, and follow the MDH COVID-19 Isolation Guide. Contact Mr. Barrios, COVID-19 Coordinator, with any questions and see the SHPA COVID-19 Webpage for resources and information.
Updated Parent or Guardian’s Guide to School: This guide describes and explains the public school system in Minnesota and the role families can play in their child’s education. It is a practical guide to help parents or guardians understand their student’s rights as well as the opportunities and resources available to the families and students. The guide was updated in December 2022 and can be found on MDE’s English Learner Education page. MDE is working to get the document translated in the future.
School Dress Code: School uniforms reflect a proper school attitude, identity, and pride consistent with a Classical Education. All SHPA students wear a uniform. We are grateful to students and parents/guardians for their support of our clothing policy.
We have noticed an increase of students wearing legging-like attire as stand-alone bottoms. This falls under causal wear and is not approved under our dress code. If your child would like to wear leggings, a skirt or dress needs to be worn over the top.
Lunch Volunteer Opportunity: We are looking for a parent or guardian volunteer to assist in our Elementary lunchroom every day, 11am-12pm. Duties would include working with the lead lunch supervisor, helping students with opening their milk or food items, and helping with clean up. If you are interested, please email Principal Farrell at cfarrell@shpamn.org.
SHPA Middle School Band and Choir: Our SHPA Middle School band and choir program began October 1st, but there are still openings! In band and choir, we will develop our instrumental and musicianship skills and develop the voice, we will learn fundamental techniques, collaborate with others, and most importantly make music! For questions contact Mr. Schultz at bschultz@shpamn.org.

Spring Scholastic Bookfair -- Wow! So much to celebrate and be thankful for! The Spring Scholastic Bookfair was a success! With an estimated $16,000 in sales, this translates directly to Scholastic Dollars and enables all SHPA teachers to purchase books and library materials throughout the year. Thank you for your participation in our book fair!
Amazing Book Fair Volunteers: Across both SHPA campuses, 44 parents and 5 students raised their hand to work at the SHPA book fair. Thank you! We could not have run a successful event without each of you.
Of special note:
- Thank you to Loren Christianson and Kim Rendahl who served as Book Fair Managers for the Richfield Campus, and to Julie Lewis and Erin Mulcahy-Billig who served as Book Fair Managers for the Bloomington Campus. In case you don't know! Book Fair Managers volunteer 6-8 weeks before the actual event to coordinate and manage all of the behind-the-scenes set up and management of the fair at each campus. Kudos to the four of you for making it happen!
- Thank you to Mikal Rutten, an SHPA parent, who stepped in on his day off to construct the new bookshelves for the Richfield Campus K-5 library. The shelves were purchased with Scholastic Dollars from the last fair, and -- now that they're securely put together -- our media center and library can showcase additional books and supplies. Thank you! The shelves look great!
The All-for-Books coin collection: The All-for-Books coin collection competition is complete! The Bloomington Campus winner is Mr. Whitebread's first grade class, and the Richfield Campus winner is Ms. Hansen's fourth grade class! Congratulations! Each class will be treated to a doughnut party, compliments of the SHPA PTA.
Did you miss the fair? Still have eWallet dollars? Families are welcome to shop the Book Fair online through March 23. Any unused eWallet dollars can be applied to online sales, and book-only purchases over $25 will ship to your home for free. The Online Book Fair for the Bloomington campus is linked here, and the Online Fair for the Richfield campus is linked here.
Spirit Gear online Sales -- March 19: Online sales are almost ready to re-open! Purchase SHPA spirit gear online via our Spirit Gear page on the PTA website. The PTA will coordinate the delivery of your purchase based on the time of your order. Thank you for supporting SHPA through our Spirit Gear!
Monthly PTA Meeting -- March 20: All are welcome! All SHPA parents and teachers are welcome to join, whether or not you've formalized your membership. We'll meet at the Bloomington Campus in room 20 (downstairs) for social time and light snacks at 5:00 p.m., and the meeting runs from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Child care will be provided in Room 22. Our agenda is currently being finalized, and is linked here to preview. Join us, and bring a friend!
Want to serve on the PTA Board? Elections are open for the position of PTA Vice President and PTA Treasurer. Serving on the PTA board is an excellent way to grow your volunteer leadership experience, and influence how we spend our funds raised throughout the year. Not to mention, you'll spend time with an excellent group of genuine SHPA parents and teachers from both SHPA campuses. Interested in learning more? Email us at sevenhillspta@gmail.com. Elections will be held mid-May.
Online Family Directory: Do you know another SHPA parent who wants to meet and be able to communicate with other SHPA families? Encourage them to join the Online Family Directory! Parents can go to the new SHPA PTA website and click "Sign In" at the upper right corner of the page, and create a username and password for themselves. Questions? Email the PTA at sevenhillspta@gmail.com, and one of our board members will be happy to assist!
