And in I Need My Monster, a unique under-the-bed story, Ethan checks under his bed for his monster Gabe and finds a note from him instead: “Gone fishing. Back in a week.”. Fall Family Fest, Slope Playground, South Slope. Free pumpkins, treats, carnival games and much more. Also, get your picture taken with a scarecrow! Bring the whole family for a fun Saturday in the park.
Fall Fest Family Day, Park Slope Armory YMCA, Park Slope. Bring the entire family to design capes, masks, and costumes, and walk into a world of drawing, art-making, and "Let’s Get Messy" fun! Free and open to everyone in the community (membership not required).
Smith Street Soup Festival, Cobble Hill. This sixth annual family foodie event supports the High School for International Studies and features a selection of soups from Smith Street's best restaurants. Tastings will be sold at the corners of Bergen, Butler and President-- $5 for 5 tastings and $10 for 12.
The Deedle Deedle Dees Album Release Show, Jalopy Theatre, Red Hook/Carroll Gardens. Acclaimed cult kids band the Deedle Deedle Dees are releasing their first album in five years, a collection of songs inspired by true stories of science, discovery, and magic.
70s Rock and Roll for Kids with Ramblin’ Dan and The Freewheelin’ Band, Brooklyn Bowl, Williamsburg. Ramblin Dan will be celebrating and performing the Music from the iconic 1970's! Dan will play songs from Paul Simon, The Rolling Stones, James Brown, James Taylor, Parliament Funkadelic, The Sugarhill Gang and more in this upbeat, interactive and engaging show for all ages!
Spellbound Theatre presents Grow!, The Old Stone House & Washington Park, Park Slope. Follow the life cycle of an apple seed through four seasons in this lovely, interactive performance for very young children. Young audiences and the storyteller plant a seed together and help it grow, while learning gentle and charming songs and ASL signs to help tell a story of seasonal growth.
One More Bite: A family food fair, Green Building, Gowanus. This family event is about encouraging kids to try new foods and learn how good food is made. Local farmers, activists and entrepreneurs will offer healthy and delicious samples of their products, and lead kids of all ages in hands-on activities.
