For insurance purposes, they have to have a staff member on the premises. Currently it looks as though the available days (in addition to Sunday afternoons) will be Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. To sign up, artists will need to contact James Lesher directly (jameslesher53@gmail.com).There will be a fee and they will need artist's contact information in case they have to close on a particular day for some unanticipated reason.

Meet your Members

Shirley Vogelsong, Artist

I always enjoyed drawing and painting from an early age, but didn't get serious until the 1960's when I took oil painting lessons in Lemoyne, PA.  When my husband Jim and I moved to State college in 1972, I got involved in taking classes at the Art Alliance and also took oil painting lessons with Ms. Zeigler through Continuing Education.  I fell in love with pastels, thanks to Linda Schimmel's class at the Art Alliance and to this day, it is my favorite medium to work with.

I enjoy painting landscapes, but painting dog portraits has become my passion.  I use photographs and it is exciting to see the dogs come to life on paper.  I give a percentage of my commissions to animal shelters and it is a comfort to me that I am helping them with my gift of painting.
