The Bellingen Community Arts Council is delighted to learn that we have been successful in our two applications to the Country Arts Support Program. This is a program administered by Regional Arts NSW on behalf of Create NSW.
Congratulations to Mixed Up Art on their successful application. The CASP funding of $3000 will support tutors to teach creative arts in an inter-generational program, ARTLINK, during 2019
A further $3000 has been awarded towards a celebration of the Bellingen Fine Music Festival’s successful Music-by-Youth Project as part of the Festival’s 10th anniversary celebrations in September 2019. Camp Creative also generously supports the Music-By-Youth Project.
BCAC Youth Encouragement award for Visual Arts 2018
Despite the disappointment of being unable to stage the annual Youth Art Prize this year the BCAC continues to support young artists in the Bellingen shire. On Sunday 9th December we shall award two Year 12 art students $1,000 each to assist in their transition from school to tertiary education. The students were chosen by the art staff at their respective schools Bellingen and Dorrigo High. Their work will be on display at the opening of our Members Show. Do come along to support them.
We also have a Year 10 student from Bellingen High doing work experience at the Nexus Gallery a further initiative with local artistic youth.
Nicole is returning to the Nexus Gallery with her prize-winning ceramic series Anthropocene Man and immersive landscape painting. After undertaking study with the renowned international ceramicist Cristina Cordova, Nicole's most recent ceramic work captures fleeting glimpses of the enigmatic beauty of bird-life
This exhibition explores the Stendhal beauty of the landscapes and fauna of the Mid North Coast.

Through our involvement with Mid North Coast NSW art galleries we have discovered a shared passion for the beauty of local scenery. Despite the very different mediums of photography and glass, there are many similarities in our approach to our art: we both express our love of the beauty of nature and the environment in an abstract manner with vibrant colours.
In this exhibition we celebrate the arrival of summer using a colour palette featuring the blues, greens and golds of the beach.

‘Trust the sky’ is an exhibition highlighting the natural beauty of the sky above us. I have spent several years capturing the infinite presentation of morning and evening skies, of storms and clear blue days, the racing of cloud cover and the myriad of colours that occur on a daily basis. Despite hundreds of days of study I realise I could study the sky forever and probably continue to produce work, which is entirely different from every other study. I have collected a diary of sketches and scribbles, of descriptions and studies and present a small selection of these works in this exhibition. Despite my love of watercolour to capture the nuances of the weather I include only acrylic works in this exhibition and look forward to presenting a future exhibition experimenting with other mediums. The sky is the limit!
Studio Gallery Anna Dunning
My exhibition is an exploration of colours, textures and views of our beach lifestyles and the creatures that we find at the beach. I will be exhibiting seascapes, ceramics and abstracts. Some will be explored through digital art, others through acrylics and others through pottery.
I am inspired by the environment around me, the colours in the environment and the textures and tactile aspects of different surfaces. This exhibition is a bright visit to a colourful coastline which never fails to calm and inspire me.

The 2019 Bellingen Fine Music Festival will be held
27-29 September 2019
NEW COMMITTEE MEMBERS WANTED
While the current Festival committee will remain in place through next September, four of the five long-serving committee members have indicated that they will be stepping back after the 2019 Festival. This includes Chairperson Rosie Wickert, Treasurer John Conway, Secretary Lynn Tizzard and Artistic Advisor Aditya Van Der Meulen.
The committee is therefore looking for new members to join the team over the next 10 months, to work alongside the existing committee, and learn how the event is planned and presented, with an eye to new members taking over the Fine Music Festival reins from 2020 and beyond.
We are looking for people with existing skills, as well as the necessary time and commitment, who are dedicated to taking the Festival into its second decade, and want to continue bringing high-quality classical, jazz, and world music to the Bellingen region.
If you love Fine Music and are interested in being involved, please come along to a short ‘Meet The Committee’ get-together on Wednesday, 5 December, 5pm at the Event Hub in the Waterfall Way Visitor Information Centre in Bellingen.
If you are unable to attend that meeting, but would like to play a role, please contact Rosie Wickert on 0419 401 901 or firstname.lastname@example.org
Have a look at the BFMF website to see great photos of the 2018 Festival!

Tamworth Textile Triennial
16 November - 25 January 2019
Tamworth Textile Triennial celebrates the open-ended nature of textiles practice today. All of the participant artists’ works are linked with things outside of themselves and their studios. Many celebrate the sense of belonging that comes from working with other artists; while others take on wide-ranging issues, such as the landscape and the environment, and the artist’s place in a world beset by environmental, social and cultural upheaval. Through the process of creating, talking and exhibiting, the artists join together with visitors as equal participants in an open house where all ideas and responses are welcome.
