The Housing First Academy by Turning Point Scotland began delivering training in 2018 with the aim of supporting the Housing First movement in Scotland by developing best practice and sharing our knowledge and experience of designing and transforming services and support for those experiencing homelessness.
Over the last 4 years, Turning Point Scotland has delivered training to 1080 people across Scotland. Participants come from a varied range of areas and services such as Housing First Practitioners and Managers, Housing Officers/ Neighbourhood Coaches, Social Workers, Case Workers, Administrative workers, Elected Council Members. Training courses have been delivered in 23 local authority areas, as well as to third sector organisations and Housing Associations.
Turning Point Scotland have also been involved in the early stages of Housing First pilots and were the contracted provider of Housing First training for the 5 pathfinder areas.
As an organisation, our ambitions for the Housing First Training have been met and the opted in Scottish Housing First workforce have been trained; so we are responding to this success by transitioning the Housing First Academy from delivering planned scheduled training courses to focusing more strongly on the supporting the existing Housing First services and communities with maintaining the proven fidelity to the model.
We will be delivering training until the 31st March 2023, if you would like to take part in the Housing First Training and have not yet done so, please email your training request to HFacademy@turningpointscotland.com.
