President’s Report February 2023
Hello everyone,
I hope you all found time to celebrate Library Lovers' Day on 14 February. The 6 of us who met at Bookplate at the National Library certainly had a great time. We each had a children’s book hidden/wrapped up and gave out clues for the others to guess the book. It was an enjoyable challenge and we eventually guessed each one. There was a variety of Picture Books, Younger Readers novels and Older Readers Books. I am personally looking forward to doing this again.
Hopefully more of us will catch up at the Notables evening on Tuesday 28 February at the Book Cow. This is always a celebratory evening as we learn which of the books we have admired/purchased over the preceding year appear on the list. We have a few locals to cheer for too. If there are any of you out there that would like to car pool for our events, particularly at night time (for any reason) could you let me know? We have people who travel from all parts of the Northside and Southside to get to our events and most are willing to help out others who may prefer not to drive. I am happy to pair people up but we can only do this if people let us know. It just takes a quick phone call a few days prior to the event – 0414710790 so that it can be sorted.
We have been invited to participate in the ACT Playgroups Association 50th Birthday celebration on Thursday 23 March 10.00am-1.00pm at Kambah Adventure Playground. We plan to have an information stall, free books to give away and someone to read stories from time to time. Ring me 0414710790 if you are able to help on the day.
Happy reading,
Julie Long
