Would you like to be a Book Week Judge?

It is with great pleasure that we share with you that the applications for the 2023 – 2025 Book of the Year Judge are now open.

We would love members to submit their applications to be considered for the next term 2023-25. We are looking for 15 new judges, 3 for each category with the exception of the Picture Book and New Illustration panel.

Every two years, The Children’s Book Council of Australia appoint individuals with outstanding experience and knowledge within the children’s literary field. Judging panels are formed through application with merit-based processes applied. Each Branch will receive the applications in their State or Territory and compile a shortlist, which the State or Territory Branch returns to the Awards Administrator who will forward the shortlists to the Awards Convenor and Awards Committee for final selection. The appointment of judges is endorsed at the next National Board meeting following the selection process.

It is for 2 ‘Awards years’. You will start receiving books in March/April 2023, that you will read and award for 2024. Then you will receive the new batch in March/April 2024 that you will read and award for 2025.

Please find below, the documents correspondent with the application. You will need to include a Curriculum Vitae.  For more information visit the website or reach out to the Awards Committee at awards@cbca.org.au

To be an ACT Judge, please send your documentation to info@cbcaact.org.au by Monday 28th November 2022.  Previous experience as a Judge is not necessary as training will be provided.
