Join us all month long as we follow the yellow book road to celebrate the 80th anniversary of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Check out details below for some featured events, the art contest and The Great Read Finale.

 

FEATURED EVENTS

"Wizard of Oz" Party — Sunday, February 10, 1:30–2:30 p.m.
Celebrate The Wizard of Oz with crafts, games and fun. Drop in; no registration required.

“Oz the Great and Powerful” Movie Showing — Wednesday, February 20, 6:30 p.m.
Drop in; no registration required.

“The Wizard of Oz”: A Chicago Connection — Tuesday, February 26, 7 p.m.
Scott Cummings presents the connection between L. Frank Baum and the legacy of Oz in Chicago. Drop in; no registration required.


THE GREAT READ ART CONTEST

Now–Wednesday, February 15
Create an original piece of art inspired by The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Entries can be any medium (up to 2 feet in height and width, with a weight limit of 5 pounds) or a digital presentation up to 2.5 minutes.


THE GREAT READ FINALE

Thursday, February 28, 6:30 p.m. 
Plainfield Public Library, 15025 S. Illinois Street, Plainfield

Celebrate The Great Read with a showing of The Wizard of Oz. Dress up as your favorite character for a chance to win prizes! Enjoy refreshments and snag a free book while supplies last. Drop in; no registration required.

We’re rounding up the local preschools and daycare centers all in one place to help you find the right fit for your children. Meet and talk to representatives from more than a dozen area preschools and daycare centers.

The Will County Health Department will be onsite providing free vision and hearing screenings, and several early childhood resource organizations will also be available.
