It was 50 years ago this year, that visionary young members of our NSW Lutheran church purchased 120 hectares of land, 45 kilometres from the centre of Canberra and began the history of what we have come to know as the Warrambui Retreat and Conference Centre.
This piece of land on the outskirts of Murrumbateman has been transformed from a stark paddock to a thriving community in a bushland setting that “serve people by living Jesus”. Each year some 7000 young people and adults enjoy Warrambui’s Christian hospitality in programs, meals and accommodation for schools, community groups and churches. Over the past couple of years some 40% of total groups staying at Warrambui are Church and ministry groups.
This year is a time to remember those who contributed to this history and give thanks to God for what he has done through the loving service of His people, as they have endeavoured to “serve people by living Jesus”.
Please join me in prayer as we journey through this year of celebration and reflection. Prayers will be distributed on a fortnightly basis to year's end and I would encourage you to share these prayers with your community, family, friends and others.
