The branch kicked off our fall programming with a powerful panel discussion on policy issues facing women and children at the state level. Moderator Dr. Phyllis Qualls-Brooks, former Executive Director of the Tennessee Economic Council on Women, brought her years of expertise to leading the discussion. We learned from prominent members of state-wide women's organizations about policy priorities, how to talk to our elected officials, and what we can do to make a difference. (Hint: get out and vote!)

Couldn't make it out? No problem: the panel was recorded and will be available on our website soon.
From the left: our four panelists; Dr. Phyllis Qualls-Brooks, moderator; Dia Cirillo, President of AAUW Murfreesboro; and Gloria Bonner of MTSU.
Panelists included, from left to right, Zulfat Suara of Business and Professinal Women of Tennessee, Sara Beth Meyers of AWAKE, Peggy Swann of AAUW, and Emily Passini of the Women's Political Collaborative.
The audience had some time to ask compelling questions of our panelists. We learned so much about effective methods for getting important legislation passed on Capitol Hill, as well as details about the legislation itself.
Big thanks to new branch member L'Oreal Stephens for the above photographs. Welcome to AAUW, L'Oreal!
Branch members Dr. Mary Magada-Ward and Zada Law, along with AAUW MTSU student organization president Jennifer Crow, gave a warm welcome to panel attendees at the front door.
