Call for nominations!
AAUW Murfreesboro seeks to fill the board position of Vice President for Programming. The slate of candidates will be announced on April 12, and voting will take place at the May 12 branch meeting. The duties of the Program VP are as follows.
1. Presides at meetings in the absence or disability of the president.
2. Works with the president to appoint two members to the Program Committee.
3. Serves as chair of the Program Committee.
4. Submits a list of suggested programs for branch meetings (October, November, February, March, and April) for the board’s approval at the summer board meeting.
5. Introduces program speakers at meetings.
6. Keeps speaker gifts on hand and presents to speakers at meetings.
7. Performs such other duties as are requested by the president or board of directors.
A nominating comittee has been formed, comprising branch members Lee Anne Carmack, Kaylene Gebert, and Jennifer Sexton. Please direct interest or questions to Lee Anne, jlcarmack@gmail.com.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness month, so for our April Branch meeting we will hear a panel discussion, “Teaming Up: Coordinated Responses to Sexual Assault in Our Community.” Invited panelists are Chief Buddy Peaster and Captain Jason Wofford from the MTSU Police Department; Kim Reynolds, a Sexual Assault Counselor and Advocate at the Domestic Violence Program and Sexual Assault Services in Murfreesboro; and Debbie Curtis, a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner at St. Thomas Rutherford. Panelists will discuss current and ongoing initiatives to enhance responsiveness to sexual assault on the MTSU campus and in our community. Coordination of services is a key strategy for connecting victims with resources for healing.

AAUW Murfreesboro is pleased to serve as a nominating organization for the Rutherford ATHENA Awards for the third consecutive year. The branch has nominated Nancy James, Public Policy Chair of AAUW Murfreesboro, for this prestigious leadership award. Additionally, the branch has nominated Rachel Forlines, Communications Officer of AAUW Murfreesboro, for the inaugural Rutherford ATHENA Young Professional Award. The ATHENA awardee will be announced at the annual award ceremony, April 28 at Stone's River Country Club. Please join us at the AAUW table to congratulate our nominees! Information on purchasing your tickets will be forthcoming.
