LVGH Featured on FOX61 for Access Grant

Literacy Volunteers of Greater Hartford, along with several other nonprofits in the Hartford area, was recently the recipient of a generous grant from Hartford Foundation for Public Giving. These Access Grants are intended to help work towards social and economic mobility equity in the Hartford community.

FOX61 News joined us here at the Hartford office to talk about the goal of the HFPG grants and how those funds will help us continue to support our students through our Career Pathways program.

Watch the interview with our Assistant Director, Stephen Morris, and read the article here.

LVGH Presents Our 20-21 Annual Report

With a 'Facing the Future' theme to match our end-of-year auction, LVGH presents our 2020-2021 Annual Report. We hope it conveys all the successes we saw despite the year's challenges, and gets everyone in the LVGH community as excited as we are to face the future together.

Check it out here.

Did You Know?
Support LVGH with Planned Giving

At the age of 70 1/2, you are required to take distributions from an IRA. Instead of creating a taxable event for yourself, consider making the distribution a charitable gift to Literacy Volunteers of Greater Hartford, using all or a portion of your mandatory withdrawal amount (up to $100,000 per person).

As long as the distribution is paid directly to LVGH from your IRA administrator, the amount will not be counted in your taxable income for the year, which may result in tax savings for you! For more information, please contact your financial advisor.  For information regarding LVGH’s planned giving program, please contact Diane Klingman.

Student Successes
Ousmane (left) and Yuling (right) have both been studying hard for their civics tests in our Citizenship classes. Both students passed their tests this month to officially become United States citizens. We're so proud of their hard work and achievements. Congrats, Ousmane and Yuling!
