Spring 2016
Career Pathways Program

Our ServSafe classes are underway and we are very excited for our first community dinner being held on May 17 at New Covenant United Methodist Church in East Hartford.
We have a group of 5 students who have been learning about food safety and hygiene while handling food. Each student was given a thermometer and learned how to measure the temperature of different foods to make sure they were cooked thoroughly for proper food safety.  The classes are being taught by a trained professional from Sodexo who has partnered with LVGH for our ServSafe training classes. These classes would not be possible without the support of the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, the Helen B. Kaplan Fund and the Beatrice Fox Auerbach Foundation.

7th Annual Read. Learn. Grow. Gala

On April 1, LVGH hosted our 7th Annual Read. Learn. Grow. Gala at Farmington Gardens. Emcees  Amanda Raus and Todd Piro excited the crowd of over 200 guests. Two LVGH students were the feature speakers of the night, sharing with attendees how much LVGH has helped them to reach their goals.

New this year was our online silent auction that found people from all over the country bidding on items that directly supported our adult education programming. LVGH raised just under $70,000 at the gala, a 21% increase from 2015!
