Meet Our Summer Intern
Naomi Learns New Skills at LVGH
 
Meet Naomi! Naomi is a local high school student entering her junior year at Hartford’s Sport and Medical Sciences Academy, and she completed an internship with us at LVGH this summer.

“It’s such a calm, welcoming environment,” Naomi says. “It helped me work on my Spanish skills, but also my skills to communicate with all kinds of people. When someone walks in and you’re not sure what they’ll want, and you figure it out together. I talked to a lot of people who didn’t understand me at first, and it felt so nice when they realized they had someone to be able to speak the same language.”

As for her future, Naomi says she’s excited to finish high school and begin to pursue her dream career. “I plan to be really dedicated to my grades this year because I want to become a doctor- specifically a pediatrician. Helping out in the childcare room was really great practice. Every child is so different.”

We’re so grateful to Naomi for all of her hard work this summer, and we wish her the best of luck this upcoming school year!

LVGH is so excited to have been featured on Comcast Newsmakers, a segment that "welcomes regional and national trailblazers to discuss ideas, assess community challenges and progress, and inspire meaningful action." 

Our Executive Director, Stephen Morris, was interviewed by host Eric Clemons. They talk about the different programs offered by LVGH and the impact that gaining literacy skills can have on a person's life.

LVGH Needs Your Help!
Become a Childcare Volunteer

We are in need of volunteers to assist in the childcare room during the upcoming fall term. This commitment would be Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 10 AM - 12 PM. Those willing to substitute are also welcome to apply if you cannot commit on a weekly basis.
