Fireworks Reminder

As we head into the Fourth of July holiday weekend, please remember fireworks are prohibited in Eugene parks and natural areas at all times.

Eugene Riverfront Festival

While Hayward Field will host the World Athletics Championships, the Downtown Riverfront Park will host a free fan festival, Eugene Riverfront Festival, for visitors and local community members. The festival will be an opportunity to showcase our state, local businesses, and our diverse and talented local arts communities to the world.

As site preparations begin, the Downtown Riverfront Park will be temporarily closed to the public starting July 5. Early closure of the park is required for safe and secure festival setup.

A pedestrian and two-way protected bike detour will reroute Ruth Bascom Riverbank Path users along Hilyard St. to 6th Ave., High St. and 4th Ave. where it reconnects to the path near the DeFazio bridge. Colorful arrows on the ground will lead people through the detour.

The Eugene Riverfront Festival is the "Place to Be" from July 15-24. All are welcome for this fun, FREE event with food, music, art, a livestream of events at Hayward Field, entertainment and culture from Oregon and around the world.

Eugene Riverfront Festival merchandise can be ordered now through July 3 for at-festival pickup! All items are locally designed and printed, with each purchase supporting Native American Student Associations at the University of Oregon and Lane Community College. Orders made after July 3 will be printed and shipped after the festival.

Temporary Closures for Oregon22 Marathon

On Sunday, July 17 and Monday, July 18 between the hours of 6 - 9 am, the World Athletics Championships Oregon22 Marathon is taking place in Eugene and Springfield.

The best marathoners in the world will complete three laps of the 8.6 mile (14km) course that passes through Alton Baker Park. For the safety and security of the racers, Alton Baker Park and Day Island Road will be closed to all users until 10 a.m. on both days. This includes the bike path and park amenities (dog park, community gardens, disc golf course, etc). More info about the marathon closures is available here.

Park Watch Mobile Reporting

Did you know you can easily report maintenance or safety concerns as you are out and about in our parks and natural areas?

Use Park Watch at eugene-or.gov/parkwatch for easy mobile reporting. Your Park Watch reports help make us aware of safety issues so that we can address them appropriately.

If there is an emergency or crime in progress, please call 911.

Thanks for helping to keep our parks safe, clean and green!

Rivers to Ridges Vision Update

Help shape the vision for future parks and open spaces in the Southern Willamette Valley.

The Rivers to Ridges Partnership (R2R) is comprised of 19 partners representing federal, state and local governments and non-profits. The group has been implementing projects identified in a 2003 vision document. Now is the time for a refresh of the project list, initiatives and vision. We would like to hear from a wide range of people in the south Willamette Valley.

Visit rivers2ridges.org to learn more and access the survey.

The Willamette River Festival is back with a weeklong celebration connecting people to history, culture, ecology and recreation opportunities on the river in the Eugene-Springfield and greater Willamette Valley region. Learn more.
Explore the ecology and management of Eugene's parks with Recreation and Parks and Open Space staff on our First Saturday Park Walks. Space is limited and registration is required so sign up early.
