September brought a welcomed problem: so much travel and field research that I can’t get my work done. (Some call it hunting, but we know better, eh?)
So forgive me if I missed one or two blogging days. It’s Sept. 17 as I write this and I should be packing for my trip to Driftwood Lodge in SE Alaska. If they don’t have a wi-fi connection, I’m going to miss some blogging dates.
This trip comes one day after I arrived back home following a week in Scotland. There I had the distinct pleasure of trailing Betsy and Niall Rowantree through wind and rain (make that lashing rain… No, make that a driving downpour) as they stalked red stag on Ardnamurchan Estate in the western Highlands. This is the Scottish/red stag equivalent of Rocky Mountain National Park/elk.
I blogged about this drippy adventure and scheduled it to post on Sept. 21, so you may have read it. If things work out in AK, I may post another Scotland blog or two — unless the fishing, waterfowling, moose hunting and bear hunting in AK overpower things. A week of rain is forecast, so I may find plenty of time to write.
When I am on the road without internet, I often am able to post images from my adventures on instagram, facebook and twitter.
The hunting season is upon us.
