Featured Tour: Bunker Busting - Exploring Coastal Defense Landscapes

This full day study tour will go behind the scenes at the Golden Gate National Recreation Area's hidden (and often subterranean!) landscapes. Beginning with the Castillo de San Joaquin (1794), which was built on the present site of Fort Point (1861) this tour will examine the layered landscapes of defense in a city that tends to forget its past connections to wartime defense. The tour will include a visit to Cavallo Point and Fort Baker to learn about the rehabilitation efforts at the site.
