This year started with the question: If the Apostle Paul were here with us today, what would he say to Afrika wa Yesu churches? What message would he write to Afrika wa Yesu Ministries? This year being a year of 2020 Vision - prophetic direction and apostolic impartation - he would pray for us - that the eyes of our understanding would be enlightened, that we may know the hope to which we have been called, what are the riches of God's glorious inheritance in the saints... that we would be strengthened with power through the Spirit in our inner man, that Christ would dwell in our hearts through faith. That we, being rooted and grounded in love, would be able to understand with all the saints, the length and width and height and depth of His love... that we would be filled with all the FULLNESS of God. (Ephesians 1:17, 3:16-19)
Apostolic Conference from our leaders to the Afrika wa Yesu Team and Ordained Pastors ministered the theme of Sacrifice and Joy. We are discovering how to gladly bring the sacrifice to the Lord, whatever the situation or circumstance, learning how to find the JOY that He has put within the sacrifice. To sacrifice without joy is to miss out on the strength we need to carry out the sacrifice, because the JOY of the LORD is our STRENGTH.
To rejoice in middle of the storm, to praise, worship, and honour our King of Kings, is our key to victorious living. And keeping His crown above all else in our lives releases us to know Him, and do great exploits for Him.
Fellowship and communion around the Lord's Table, and powerful praise and worship in God's presence - a beautiful way to start our year.
Preparing Campus for Students
What joy and excitement to prepare our campus for Bible School and Vocational Centre students! Everyone pitched in to help, lots of ideas create as much work, but the people had a mind to work, and together they built many walls! In the pictures above, Chris and Vulamide are overhauling the school lorry, Maestre Juma and Muze add concrete shoulders to the dormitories to help combat erosion, Lucas and Carlito organise the freshly painted storeroom, Amanda helps with painting the new backdrop for the hall, and Gabriel varnishes our 'instrument board' - where the shakers and shofar are hung in the hall.
Students at their desks ready for class; Jemusse brings the teaching on deliverance to the Bible School students during Spiritual Formation, and Agostinho teaches the Vocational Centre students 'Disciplines of Stewardship' in the business class. Every school term begins with salvation, water baptism, deliverance and Holy Ghost overflowing - baptism on the beach is an incredible opportunity to testify about Jesus in this muslim community.
"Now, if anyone is enfolded into Christ, he has become an entirely new creation.
All that is related to the old order has vanished. Behold, everything is fresh and new.
And God has made all things new, and reconciled us to himself,
and given us the ministry of reconciling others to God."
― 2 Corinthians 5:17-18, TPT
This term at the Vocational Centre we have students doing an electrics course. One of their practical projects will be to install electrics - lights and cables - at the church in Salinas which the construction students built last year. As always, our students minister locally in surrounding churches and participate in evangelism and other ministry opportunities. Please keep them in your prayers and they reach out and touch the people of Mozambique for Jesus.
Thank you for partnering with Afrika Wa Yesu Ministries. We pray that 2020 will bring a completion in your life of God's perfect will, and that you, too, being rooted and grounded in love, will be able to understand the length and width and height and depth of God's love for you.
Together for His Glory,
Chris and Debs,
Gabriel, Ashira, Mikayla and all at Afrika Wa Yesu
Meet Yolanda - a gift from God to our family during this time of transition for us! Zimbabwean born & bred, she is helping with homeschool, which is a great blessing as Deborah can be more involved in devotions and other projects around the base, and the kids are enjoying her as well. Thank you for coming to Mozambique, Yolanda!
We love hearing from you! Let us know what the Lord is doing in your life and how we can pray for you and your family.
