Green Island Christmas Market
The Green Island Christmas Market will be held on the 5th December 2015. To book a stall contact Lee at Experience Hair at 200 Main South Road, Green Island.
Greater Green Island Good Sort
Every month we will be highlighting a good sort from the greater Green Island area. This can be an organization, group or person who does something wonderful for the area. If you have a nomination for a Good Sort please contact Lynda on 470 0814 or lyndad@psotago.org.nz.
This months Good Sort is Lee from Experience Hair. Lee was nominated by Denise Price from Green Island. Denise said that Lee is always helping other people and delivering meals to those who are sick. Thank you Lee for everything you do.
A big thank you to the Green Island Mower Centre who have kindly dug the garden beds over. It is due to the generosity of people and businesses in the Greater Green Island area that the garden is progressing so well.
Spring planting has begun now so come along and have a look. The garden is located at the end of Shand Street (past the Janet Cameron Hall).
Leos are a division of Lions Club International and serve to help the community both locally and internationally whilst teaching responsibility, independence and developing friendships and having fun. We meet once a month on the 1st Tuesday of the month.
Learn about what Leos do and decide if you want to be a part of a brand new group.

Skills passed on include menu planning, budget shopping/cooking, knitting, sewing, mending, gardening and establishing household routines.
Here at SuperGrans we are fortunate to have Volunteers who are greatly valued for the time they give to the families they mentor.

Before School Checks
INFORMATION FOR PARENTS / CAREGIVERS Take advantage of the free B4 School Check (as your child turns 4) and prepare them for a healthy start to school.
The B4 School Check aims to make sure your four year old is healthy and can start school all ready to keep learning! Ideally your child should be seen as close to 4 years as possible. It is also the final Well Child/Tamariki Ora Health Check and is free for all 4 year olds.
There are 3 parts to the B4 School check:
1 - Vision & Hearing Screen This is normally done at your child’s preschool by a visiting Vision & Hearing Technician. 2 - Health Check This is done with you and your child by a B4 School Check trained Registered Nurse and takes about 30-45 minutes to complete and includes the following:
Completion of a questionnaire on your child’s general health, their strengths and difficulties and their development.
Your child’s height and weight will be measured, Immunisation history reviewed and teeth and gums checked.
The Nurse will discuss with you your child’s health, readiness for school and any concerns that you might have.
3 -Early Childhood Centre Your child’s preschool teacher completes a Strengths and Difficulties questionnaire – this helps us to understand your child’s peer and social development. Your child’sB4 School check can be booked by phoning direct to our B4 School Admin Team
