TOMORROW!  TUESDAY, DEC. 6, AT 5PM: BOOK TALK WITH ISLAND NEWSPAPERMAN DOUG CABRAL
•••  Doug Cabral (former editor and owner of the MV Times and editor of the Vineyard Gazette) will give a reading from his new comic memoir, News Hounds: An Accidental Newspaper Life on Martha’s Vineyard, in which canine companions play a major role. Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing. Refreshments will be served. 
SIGN LANGUAGE TV SHOW SCREENINGS CONTINUE ON WEDNESDAYS IN DECEMBER AT 4PM
•••   The library will be screening one episode per week of MVTV’s MV Signs Then and Now. This series provides a means for learning, practicing, and experiencing Pidgin Signed English (PSE) as a second language on Martha’s Vineyard. Each episode is a half hour, and will be followed by practice and/or discussion. Open to children and adults.
SATURDAY, DEC. 10 AT 4PM: COMMUNITY PHOTOGRAPHY SHOW OPENING RECEPTION
•••   The public are invited to attend an opening reception for “Through a Lens,” the community photography show on exhibit during the month of December at the West Tisbury Library. The show includes the work of 40 local photographers of all ages, both amateur and professional. Refreshments will be served.
SUNDAY, DEC. 11 AT 3:30PM: SECOND SUNDAY JAZZ CONCERT
•••   Join us for a concert featuring John Alaimo on piano, Tauras Biskis on drums, and Eric Johnson on bass. This event is part of a jazz series presented by Island jazz musician Eric Johnson on the second Sunday of each month through April 2017. Thank you to the Friends of the WT Library and the WT Library Foundation for their generous support of music programming.
MONDAY, DEC. 12 FROM 7-8PM: WRITERS READ
•••   This monthly event features community members reading short original prose pieces. Both fiction and nonfiction readings are welcome. Each reader is allotted eight minutes to read. Critique to follow reading is optional. Free & open to the public. Sign up to read in advance by calling (508) 693-4307 or just come and listen!
WEDNESDAY, DEC. 14 AT 7PM: TWEED'S READS BOOK GROUP MEETING
•••   This meeting is the last of a 14-session book group focusing on overlooked gems, led by Tweed Roosevelt. This month, the group will be reading and discussing I am Legend, the apocalypse novel which was the subject of several film adaptations. Call or stop by the library to reserve a copy of the book. Free and open to all, whether or not you have attended before. Refreshments will be served.
SUNDAY, DEC. 18 FROM 3-4:45PM: OPEN CHAMBER MUSIC REHEARSAL
•••  The West Tisbury Library will be hosting weekly open chamber music rehearsals on most winter Sundays. The rehearsals are facilitated by Island violinist César Atzíc Márquez. Attend as an audience member, or bring your instrument and join in. Audience questions are welcomed -- these rehearsals are meant to be educational and fun. 
MONDAY, DEC 19 FROM 4:30-6:30PM: ANNUAL LIBRARY HOLIDAY PARTY!
•••   Enjoy delicious refreshments, make a holiday swag, and listen to the sounds of the Vineyard Classic Brass Band. Winners will be announced for a silent auction and raffle held by the West Tisbury Library Foundation. Silent auction bidding and raffle ticket sales begin on December 5. Funds from this auction will benefit programming at the West Tisbury Library. This event is free and open to all.

Monday: 10am - 9pm     |     Tuesday through Thursday: 10am - 6pm
Friday & Saturday: 10am - 5pm     |     Sunday: 1-5pm


*The library will be close early at 2pm on Saturday Dec. 24, and will be closed all day on Dec. 25 and 26. The library will also be closed all day Sunday and Monday January 1 and 2.
