Fall is nearly here, and the library's calendar is once again filling up! New events are being added all the time, and many ongoing programs continue, so check our website for complete, up-to-date listings. Read on for some highlights...

TOMORROW! SATURDAY, SEPT. 17, AT 4PM: NEPAL—THE EARTHQUAKE, RELIEF WORK, AND THE ROAD AHEAD
•••   Join Sweta Gurung and Adrian Smith of Himalayan Crossroads for a slideshow and presentation about relief efforts following Nepal’s Earthquake in April 2015. Sweta and Adrian have devoted themselves to aid work in Nepal for people displaced by the earthquake, and those in remote mountain villages.
MONDAYS SEPT. 19 & 26 AT NOON: THE BODY SCIENCE OF MEDITATION WITH LOVE ABLAN
•••   Sept. 19th: Be the Author of Your Life Story. How to use journaling and creative writing to create the life you want. Bring a notebook. Sept. 26: Eyes Wide Open: Art & Photography as Meditation. Open discussion and lecture on how visual mediums affect artist and viewer, and why art can be therapeutic to both.
TUESDAY, SEPT. 20, AT 5PM: BOOK TALK WITH ARTIST TAYLOR STONE
•••   Island paper artist Taylor Stone will present a slideshow and talk about her new book, Vineyard Magic. This book of original cut paper art takes the form of a magical guide to native flowers alongside micro-stories detailing their curious "effects." A limited number of books will be for sale for $110 each.
THURSDAY, SEPT. 22, AT 6PM: MV CULTURAL COUNCIL INFO SESSION
•••   Martha’s Vineyard Cultural Council will be holding an information meeting for potential applicants at the West Tisbury Library. A new grant cycle begins for Cultural Council Grants in Fiscal Year ‘17. All community members are encouraged to learn more about this funding opportunity for arts, culture, and science initiatives. Refreshments will be served.
MONDAY, SEPT. 26, AT 7PM: "MONDAY NIGHT & ALL THAT JAZZ" WITH DAVE KISH
•••  The West Tisbury Library and WMVY present a monthly jazz-themed evening with Dave Kish. Dave has hosted the WMVY radio show "Sunday Morning & All That Jazz" since 1997, and has always been a champion of all types of jazz, from all parts of the globe. Check the WT Library website soon for this month's movie screening pick. Refreshments will be served.
TUESDAY, SEPT. 27, AT 4PM: MARSHA WINSRYG'S EGG TEMPERAS—EXHIBIT AND RECEPTION
•••   The West Tisbury Library will host a reception in honor of Marsha Winsryg, whose paintings will be on display in the library’s community room from Sept. 27 through Nov. 27. This show will present paintings based on Italian religious architecture and symbolism, many of which have never been shown. Refreshments will be served.
WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 28, AT 7PM: TWEED'S READS BOOK GROUP MEETING
•••   This month’s theme is “the sharp knife of satire.” The group will be reading and discussing Riotous Assembly by Tom Sharpe. Call or stop by the library to reserve a copy of the book. This meeting is one of a 14-session book group focusing on overlooked gems, led by Tweed Roosevelt. Attend one or attend all. Refreshments will be served.
MONDAY, OCT. 3, AT 6PM: ARTIST RECEPTION WITH ANDREW (CODY) JEPHCOTE
•••   The West Tisbury Library will host a reception with Andrew Jephcote, whose art will be on display throughout the library in October and November. Andrew’s sculptures and paintings feature materials gleaned from roadsides, beaches, thrift stores, barns, and yard sales. Cake will be served, and music will be provided by NYC-based DJ Nightshade. 
BEGINNING FRIDAY, OCT. 7, AT 4PM: PILATES SERIES WITH JUDY KRANZ
•••  The library will offer four free Pilates classes with local instructor Judy Kranz Fridays in October at 4pm. All levels welcome. Space is limited and pre-registration is required. Participants must commit to all four sessions. Sign up at the library or call 508-693-3366. This series is free and open to ages 15 and up. Please wear comfortable clothing.
SATURDAY, OCT. 8, FROM 10:30AM-12:30PM: FAIRY / GNOME HOUSE BUILDING!
•••   The library will be offering its back garden as a haven for fairies/gnomes and their homes. Gather and bring your own natural building materials - bark, shells, seed pods, feathers, twigs, rocks, fur, pine cones, moss, lichen, small driftwood, etc. Plan on using and sharing your bounty to build a home for a fairy or gnome!

West Tisbury librarian Rachel Rooney is now offering two weekly help sessions. Call ahead to make an appointment during her open hours, or try your luck and drop in.

••• Want to learn about ebooks, OverDrive, Axis360 or Zinio? Our IT/Reference Librarian will be on hand to help you discover the wonderful world of ebooks. Bring your laptop, iphone, kindle, or other mobile device. This event is free and open to the public.

Monday: 10am - 9pm     |     Tuesday through Thursday: 10am - 6pm
Friday & Saturday: 10am - 5pm     |     Sunday: CLOSED*


*We will resume Sunday hours over the winter, beginning October 16: 1-5pm.
