"Blanketing in Love". This is what we are doing for everyone in our church that are students, parents, school staff, and faculty as the new school year begins. Families are busy preparing with their students for the many changes this Fall. They are buying desks, better chairs, and rearranging living spaces to create virtual school spaces for video calls and class work. Families are figuring out better masks for all-day wear, new schedules and locations, when and if sports and other beloved programs like music, art, robotics, etc. will happen. Teachers and staff are planning the very best that they can and stepping into new areas that require a heavy load on the support staff trying to create this new way. Basically, they are planning heavily while remaining flexible in a strangely new and stressed time where many things have been flipped around. All this while wondering about the protection and safety of all involved despite the best laid plans.
Come Holy Spirit, come. Come God of wisdom, guidance, and compassion. Come, spirit of Christ, to light the path forward and connect us all in powerful love. Come.
Pastor Jill and I are praying around an image of "blanketing in love" all those starting the new school year. Our prayers are wrapping around and lifting each one of you as you embark on this new way of being. We are with you, as parents. We are aware of the many details, thought out plans, and managed risk, as staff. We carry each of you in our prayers, blanketing you with the Holy Spirit as we make our way into this time.
This past Sunday evening, 18 of us safely gathered in the church parking lot for a blessing to usher in the start of the school year. Each of our graduated seniors received a bible and a prayer blanket to go with them for the start of college. All of the students, school staff, and parents received a colorful prayer quilt square, stitched with love, and a soft flannel book mark as reminders that God's comfort is with each one as we traverse this different school experience. (Thank you to Karen, Jill, and Averil for your loving handiwork to provide these gifts.)
May we remember to fall back into God's care regularly during this time. May we pause, breathe in the Holy, and find comfort in God's care. May we remember that we are blanketed in love by the Holy One. May we remember whose we are and the promises of grace, compassion, and help when we turn to the Lord.
May you all feel a blanket of love in the days ahead, Pastor Nina

Welcome Table Food Ministry
Due to the 2019 Novel Coronavirus pandemic we have temporarily changed the format of our Community Meal program on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month. We now distribute dinners through a drive-thru format, placing bagged meals directly into the guest's trunk so we protect our guests and volunteers through social distancing. Please be respectful and adhere to social-distancing policies while using this service. We will also have bags of shelf-stable food available for pick-up at GSCC on Wednesdays from 11:30 am - 12:00 pm. Please email us here or here for assistance.
**The Welcome Table Ministry is prayerfully asking for egg carton donations. If you happen to have any empty egg cartons hanging around please consider donating them. You can drop them off at the church on Wednesdays between 11:30 am - 12 pm or on community meal days starting at 3 pm. There will be a bin for the egg cartons just inside the front doors or under the entry table.**

Coronavirus Information from the Ohio Department of Health
Here at Good Shepherd Christian Church we are always looking for ways to care for our flock. Recently, we found the Ohio Department of Health website has a wealth of information pertaining to the coronavirus pandemic. This includes information about Ohio statistics (updated daily), latest developments, helpful videos, and a multitude of resources. Please click below to be taken to the Ohio Department of Health website.
We know times are tough and a little scary right now, especially because we feel we have very little control over what is happening in our own communities and all around the world. The website has checklists to help you navigate through this including, but not limited to; avoiding scams, cleaning and disinfecting alternatives, cloth face coverings, coping with restrictions, and many more! There are 4 pages of checklists! Here is the direct link for those checklists.
If you have a prayer request for the Pastors and/or to be held in prayer by members of our community, please fill out the new Prayer Request form. You can also find the
form on the homepage AND the "Contact Us" section of our website.
Please check the church calendar often! You can find the calendar by clicking the Events tab on our website. We will be updating the calendar weekly. We will be doing this to keep you as up-to-date as possible on any cancellations or postponements of church events.
