MEET THE ARTISTS!

Nick McBlaine & Log Train will feature National Flatpick Guitar champion Peter McLaughlin, multi-instrumentalist Alvin Blaine and Evan Dain.    They play lonesome old songs, new originals, fiddle tunes, traditional folk, country, bluegrass, swing, and Americana, and they have fun with all of it.

Don Armstrong & The Whiskeypalians.  Don has been described as a “Tucson legend” and a “folk treasure”.   Recently referred to by the Arizona Daily Star as a “consummate songwriter”, Don and his group have delighted audiences in clubs, concerts & folk festivals around Arizona.  His long-awaited solo album, “Mother, Don’t Give Up On Me Now,” was released earlier this year.  Alvin Blaine, Slim Rost and Liz Cerepanya will be joining Don for the evening.

Bullwinkle’s Corner is a side project of Wayback Machine co-founder Jim Lipson.  Joining him on-stage will be Don Armstrong, Liz Cerepanya, Slim Edelman and Petie Ronstadt.  In the great Wayback Machine tradition expect  special guests can also be expected including Peter McLaughlin and Alvin Blaine.

Liz & Pete.  Liz Cerepanya and Peter Dalton Ronstadt join musical forces to explore material old and new. Liz’s lush and heartfelt voice, intertwined with Pete’s haunting harmonies and rich guitar arrangements captivate the imagination for an experience not to be missed.  Their shows feature original music of the late Alan Garr, new compositions by Ronstadt, and longtime favorites.

Eric Schaffer & The Other Troublemakers.   Eric is a four-time finalist in the Tucson Folk Festival Songwriting Contest and semi-finalist in the Great American Songwriting Contest.   Backed by AZ Blues Hall of Fame/Tucson Musicians Museum member Bruce Halper on drums, “Country-Punk” pioneer Loren Dircks and Tempe music scene veteran Jonny Zapp, The Other Troublemakers have been entertaining crowds throughout the Southwest since 2014.

Heather Hardy.  Violinist, vocalist, songwriter, and member of the AZ Blues Hall of Fame.   Heather has toured throughout the US and Europe and has been featured on over 200 albums since 1983.   She was a member of the internationally acclaimed punk band The False Prophets and was a long-time member of the Sam Taylor Band.   Heather will be joined by multi-instrumentalist Alvin Blaine.

A Note from TKMA PR Team Leader, Jonathan Frahm:

“I'm sure that I speak for all of us on the Board when I say, THANK YOU for making our kickoff party at Catalina Craft Pizza a rousing success! Special thanks goes out to Jeff Bridge and Catalina Craft Pizza for being such gracious hosts, to Bill Moeller for capturing the verve of our show in his photography, and to our artists, volunteers, and patrons. You reinvigorated us that evening by chipping into the unifying spirit that our Tucson Folk Festival and Tucson music community has always been known for!"

Tucson Folk Festival - April 9-11, 2021
Produced by the Tucson Kitchen Musicians Association

The Tucson Kitchen Musicians Association (TKMA) began as a group of friends gathering regularly on Friday nights for potlucks and jammin’ in the kitchen. TKMA has grown into an all-volunteer operated 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established in 1986; Tax ID #86-0514808.  Our mission is to further public awareness and interest in acoustic music and other folk arts by promoting and producing the annual Tucson Folk Festival; one of the oldest FREE Folk/Americana music festivals in the country!  We invite you to visit our website:  www.tucsonfolkfest.org
