'Tis the Season

It's that time of the quarter when everything for each of your classes is due in the same week, same day. Why does that feel like this happens every quarter? Well, we have some good and bad news for you! 

Bad News: This is happening. It's overwhelming and stressful and we can't do any of it for you. 

Good News: We can make these coming weeks a little lighter—mentally, not literally—by offering you a place to study!

Looking for a Summer Internship?

How many units do I need to fulfill the internship requirement?
12 units. 1 unit = 30 hours.

How many units need to be on and off campus?
A maximum of 4 units may be on campus, but you are not required to have any on campus internship units. Thus, all of your internship units may be off campus. 

How do I get units for an internship that I do over the summer?
1. Find a faculty sponsor on campus
2. Complete the following: (1) Internship Approval Form, (2) Proposal, (3) Description of Opportunity
>> find these forms on our website!
3. Meet with Galyna to have her sign the paperwork
4. Do the internship 
4.5. While interning complete the following: (1) time log, (2) reflections
5. Submit the time log and accompanying reflections to Galyna and she will give you a CRN to register for your internship units for Fall Quarter 2015
I don't have an internship for summer, but I want one.
Here are three resources that your peer advising team can vouch for! 

An allover listings site:
Good Food Jobs: search listings by location, category (i.e. production, education), type (i.e. internship, full time), & compensation (i.e. stipend, hourly)
>> you can also set up email alerts to be emailed whenever something is posted within your parameters!

A platform for arranging accommodated organic work:
WWOOF: become a member (for a small fee) & choose a location to work & live on a variety of organic properties (i.e. vineyard, farm) in exchange for food & living accommodations
    WOOF USA: search by state
    WOOF International: search by country

A comprehensive database for students looking to pursue work in sustainable food:
Yale Sustainable Food Program: Jobs, Apprenticeships, & Internships: organized by company/job type & provides other websites with listings

SA&FS Program Review

  • Why? Because you matter & our major depends on us to provide feedback to help it better address student needs
  • You will not be the only student there— thank you to the 20+ students that have RSVP'd!
  • You do not need to RSVP to attend, but it would be helpful so that we know how much pizza to order

  • Last day to opt for P/NP or S/U grading: May 1
  • Last day to drop courses with a PTD, add courses with a PTA, & submit a Cancellation/Withdrawal form: June 4
