Ask the questions that have no answers.
Invest in the millennium. Plant sequoias.
Say that your main crop is the forest
that you did not plant,
that you will not live to harvest.
Say that the leaves are harvested
when they have rotted into the mold.
Call that profit. Prophesy such returns.
Put your faith in the two inches of humus
that will build under the trees
every thousand years.
Listen to carrion— put your ear
close, and hear the faint chattering of the songs that are to come.
Expect the end of the world. Laugh.
Laughter is immeasurable. Be joyful
though you have considered all the facts.

SA&FS is coming up on the end of its fourth year as both a field of study and academic opportunity and as a community! How might you celebrate such an occasion while also being able to provide your feedback? Join us at the SA&FS Program Review!

In order to support the input of all members of our community, there will be two meetings to try and accommodate most schedules:

1. Wednesday, April 19 from 10am - 11am at Bowley 105
2. Tuesday, April 28 from 11:20am - 12:30pm at 1328 Hart Hall

Why come?
  • because you matter! —faculty and advisors of the major want to know what they can do to make your time at Davis best for you
  • because SA&FS depends on you— your input is essential in order to enact change and promote growth
  • because those ladybugs are going— bugs are a part of the Earthly ecosystem and thus, our community

Look out for an RSVP to the above meeting times being sent out this coming week.

Wow! Congratulations to those that completed the SA&FS capstone course! All of that hard work, coffee, and crying was worth it, no?

Thank you to those that both attended and presented, ASI, and the capstone teaching staff for putting on such stellar presentations! We look forward to getting started with the capstone students of 2016!

For those planning to take the Capstone course during Fall & Winter quarters of 2015-2016:
Space is limited for this course and therefore it is very important that we have a count of the number of students planning on taking it next year. Please call to schedule an appointment with your advising team or go to office hours in order to help us help you!
