Keeping you up to date with the Ripple Effect

What would you want to tell someone who might be going through a tough time? What advice would you give them?

We have reached an exciting point in the development of the Ripple Effect, with people from farming communities now being invited to provide input about their personal experiences of suicide.

We know that no one tells a story about life on the land—it's ups and it's downs—better than farmers themselves. We also know that people in farming communities are renowned for helping each other.

By sharing a story, you can help others learn and act to make positive changes for your own and other's health and wellbeing. We know that this kind of communication helps protect people’s wellbeing. Participation is anonymous, personalised, and with people who understand what life in a rural farming community is really like.  All you need to do is fill in and return a Ripple Effect postcard.

To request a postcard (or several, if you know of others who would like to tell their story) visit, email or phone the National Centre for Farmer Health on (03) 5551 8533.

Help other farmers—tell your story in the Ripple Effect Digital Storytelling Workshop

Would you like the challenge of producing a digital story about your experience of suicide? A free Digital Storytelling Workshop (using multimedia techniques) will be held in January (date TBC) for farming community members wanting to tell their story. This workshop has been very generously sponsored by the Geelong Gentleman's Lunch. It's free, professionally facilitated and a lot of fun. No experience necessary, just a drive to tell your story. Financial assistance is available to help with travel and accommodation.

Numbers are limited, so register your interest today!

Calling all community champions!

Just a reminder that we are currently calling for expressions of interest from people who would like to take on a Community Champion role with the Ripple Effect. This would require you to attend an online training session and then share the knowledge you have learned about the Ripple Effect across your farming community networks.

To register your interest, please email or phone the National Centre for Farmer Health on (03) 5551 8533.
